The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State
of California, DO ORDAIN, as follows,: _. _ ._. ._.

Section 1. That Section Z9-20 is hereby added to
Chapter 19 of the Butte County Cade to read as follows:
Section 19-20: Tt is hereby provided that
notwithstanding any of~the provisions of Section 19-4 of the
Butte County Code, "gray-water" produced on a premises in
specified geographical areas where the Board of Supervisors
finds by resolution that,
1. A critical domestic water shortage exists in a
~ specified area, and
2. Strict water conservation measures are necessary
I in said area.
As used herein, "gray-water" means that liquid
household waste norma~.ly associated with the kitchen sink,
Laundry, bathtub or shower and wash basin, and specifically
excludes toilet or urinal wastes: Irrigation of plants with
"gray-water" shall be done in a manner which will not ca~.se
odors, or breeding places far mosquitoes, or other nuisance, and
further, there shall be no "ponding" of said water.
Section 2. This urgency ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon its passage, and before the expiration o.f .fifteen
{15) days after its passage shall be published once with the
names of the members of the Boated of Supervisors voting for and
against the same in the Paradise Post a newspaper

in general circulation in the County of Butte, State of
California. This_ordnance.s.hall become ineffective on _...
_.
December 31, 1977, unless further extended by the Board of
~ Supervisors.
The facts constituting the urgency on which this
ordinance is based are;there are areas within the county which
face potential disastrous drought conditions. This ordinance
will alleviate to some degree some of the problems related to
drought, and is adopted as an emergency ordinance for the health,
welfare and safety of the people of the County of Butte.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of
Supervisors this 29th day of March 1977, by
the following vote:
