HomeMy WebLinkAbout18-166 / I/ f / %- ,/ l�� I � r u,.,,,,// /, "�. 6,/��//�����✓/Ifi�„J//! /,/�/�r�� a1 f ,/�J��,l//�l�/��lf,/,el/� .//1 h;,f/li� ,l ��/'�f� i �,Ge r�/�/f�l�i�� Resolution No. 18-166 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING NOVEMBER 20181 AS ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH WHEREAS, Butte County recognizes that all children need love, support,security, and a place to callhome; and WHEREAS,every year, more than 100,000 children in foster care in the United States are available for adoption;and WHEREAS, the average length of time a child spends in foster care in the United States waiting for an adaptive family is between two and four years; and WHEREAS, in Butte County there are approximately 572 children and youth in foster care; and WHEREAS, in the first ten months of this year, 79 Butte County children in foster care have been adopted, and 22 more adoptions will be finalized on National Adoption Day on November 16, 2018; and WHEREAS, November has been designated as National Adoption Awareness Month and is declared so by presidential proclamation each year; and WHEREAS,the goal of National Adoption Awareness Month'is to increase public awareness of the needs of children waiting for permanent homes, as well as the enduring and valuable contribution of adoptive parents, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby declares the month of November 2018 as Adoption Awareness Month in, Butte County; recognizes that every child deserves a permanent and loving family; and encourages all 'citizens to consider adoption during the month of November and throughout the year.
