AN I.N.TERIM ORDINANCE ZONING A PORTION OF THE
COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AN "R-N"
(RESIDENTIAL-NONCONFORMING) DISTRICT
1 The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State
2 of California, under and pursuant to Chapter 2~4-30 of the Butte
3 County Code, and declaring an emergency, DO ORDAIN as follows:
4 SECTION 1. The hereinafter described area situated in
5 the County of Butte, State of California, shall be and it is
6 hereby zoned as an "R-N" (Residential-Nonconforming) District
7 for a period o.f 120 days, and such area shall be subject to the
8 restrictions and restricted uses and regulations hereinafter
9 specified and provided.

SECTI0~1 2, REGULATIONS FOR AN "R-N" BISTRICT
The fallowing regulations shall apply in an "R-N"
{A} USES PERMITTED
1. One single-family dwelling per parcel, not
including tents, trailers or mobile homes.
2. Accessory buildings pertinent to the permitted
uses.
3. Household pets (but not including livestock,
poultry or poisonous reptiles}.
(B) USES SUBJECT TO SECURING A USE PERMIT IN EACH CASE:
1. Duplex dwellings and multiple family dwellings.
2. Public and quasi-public uses including churches,
firehouses, hospitals,-parks and playgrounds,
schools and public utility buildings.
(C} LOT AREA AND WIDTH:
The standard provisions of Section Z4-33 shall apply,

Z5 3. Rear: The standard provisions of Section 24-33

17 (E} OFF STREET FARKiNC
~$ The provisions of Section 24-35 notwithstanding,
19 one off-street parking space shall be required
20 per dwelling unit. This requirement is waived
2Z where existing off-street parking space is absorbed
22 by expansion of an existing dwelling as part of
23 an approved rehabilitation project of the County's
24 Housing and Community Development program.

SECTION 3. All uses of land within the district not
specifically authorized and permitted are .prohibited.
SECTION 4. In compliance with the provisions of said
8ut~e County Code, Chapter 24, the same is hereby amended by
adding this ordinance in full.
SECTION 5. The penalties for the violation of the
zoning hereby imposed within the district sha11 be as provided
in the Butte County Code, Chapter 24, this Ordinance shall from
and after its effective date become a supplement to and part
of the Butte Gaunty Code, Chapter 24.
SECTION 5. This urgency ordinance sha11 take effect
immediately upon its passage, and before the expiration of
.fifteen (15} days after its passage shall be published once with
the names of the members of the Board of Supervisors voting for
and against the same in the Oroviile Mercury Register, a
newspaper in general circulotion in the County of Sutte, State
of California. The facts constituting the urgency on which
this Ordinance is based are:
1. An essential part of the County's Housing and
Development Program in the South Oroville area is
the rehabilitation and expansion of existing dwellings.
2. Most of the sites of dwellings to be rehabilitated
are small scbdivision lots which are substandard in
width and size and do not conform to current design
standards.

3. The application of the County `s standard
requirements for setbacks acrd aff-street parking
would require numerous variances for HCO rehabil-
itation projects.
4. The existing subdivision pattern is a special
circumstance justifying reduced setbacks and
parking requirements.
