AN ORDINANCE CONSOLIDATING ALL ASPECTS OF BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS COMPENSATION INTO ONE ORDINANCE
AND REMOVING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM THE
GENERAL COUNTY SALARY ORDINANCE

The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
'~ California, DO ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. -Any reference-made to compensation to the
Board of Supervisors found in Ordinance 1722 is hereby deleted.
Section 2. The salary of members of the Board of Super--
visors is $10,322.00 per year, which salary shall be paid bi-
weekly at the time and in the same manner that salaries are paid
for other county employees.
Tn addition to the aforementioned compensation, the Board
of Supervisors shall be eligible for the same fringe be~.efits
established. by the Board for xegular county employees, including
participation in the Public Employees Retirement System and the
employees health and supplemental insurance plans as pre-exists
and as hereinafter amended.
As additional compensation, the members of the Board of
Supervisors may, at their discretion, select one of the following
alternatives as and for a mileage allowance:
1. The county shall supply either a leased
or county--owned vehicle to the Board
members, and the county shall be responsi--
ble for all costs relative to that
vehicle; providers further, however, that
this vehicle may only be used in the
course of conduct of 'bus;iness of the
county.

and shall be reimbursed at the rate of
$.17 per mile traveled on county business
during the month. In addition thereto,
the Board member shall be compensated
pursuant to Streets and Highways Code §2010.
3. A Board member may receive an additional
compensation in the amount of $225.00 per
month in Lieu of any other transportation
costs, except for trips outside of the
county that the Board member finds necessary
in the scope and course of his county duties,
and for which the Board member travels by
some means of public transportation, such
as an airline or bus.
Each Board member must select, prior to the adoption of
the budget for each year, or at the commencement of his term for
the remainder of that fiscal year, the alternative mileage allow-
ance system that he will utilize during the fiscal year. Prior
to the effective date of this ordinance, incumbent Board members
shall designate the alternative method of his choice.
Individual Board members who have selected alternative
number three shall be paid the $225.00 initially on the effective
date of this ordinance and thereafter monthly.
As and for additional compensation, each member of the
Board of Supervisors shall be reimbursed for his actual and
necessary expenses incurred in travel in the course of official

county business, including meals and lodging and all other actual ',
and necessary expenses, excepting any transportation expenses,
which sha11 be as provided herein. ',
All mandatory employment related expenses, i.e., Social
Security and Workman's Compensation Insurance, shall be provided
by the county.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect 6Q days ',
after the date of its adoption, and before the expiration of 15
'days after its passage, it shall be published with the names of ~~'
the members of the Board of Supervisors voting for and against
the same in the Gridley Herald a newspaper
published in, the County of Butte, State of California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the '
County of Butte, State of California, on the 18th day of
October, 2977, by the following vote:
AYES : Supervisors Lemke, Madigan, Moseley and Chairman Richter
NOES : None
ABSENT Supervisor Winston
NOT VOTING : None
