HomeMy WebLinkAbout19-033WHEREAS, on December 11, 2018, the Board of Supervisors adopted Ordinance No. 4151 —An Urgency
Ordinance of the County ofButte — Requirements for the Removal of Fire Damaged Debris from Private Property
Following the Camp Fire; and
WHEREAS, on January 8, 2019, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 19-001 establishing adeadNma
ofFebruary 28,2019,and
WHEREAS, on January 29, 2019, Ordinance No. 4151 was amended and codified in Chapter 53 of the Butte
County Code; and
WHEREAS, Section 53-16(B) of the County Code allows the Board of Supervisors to set a deadline for approved
Alternative Fire Debris Removal Program applications; and
WHEREAS, the County's Alternative Fire Debris Removal Program and application for residential properties
became available bVJanuary 1,2D19 and the requirements for commercial properties were issued on February 21, 2019;
and
WHEREAS, the County was notified that FEMA issued approval for commercial properties [nthe unincorporated
area to participate in the State Program on March 11, 2019; and
WHEREAS, residential and commercial property owners need additional time to determine which program best
meets their needs; and
WHEREAS, on March 12, 2019\ the Chief Administrative Officer informed the Board of Supervisors during a
regularly scheduled Board meeting that she admiinistratively approved extending the, deadline for commercial properties
for approved [bmmty Alternative Fire Debris Removal Program applications to April 12, 2819, due to the timing of the
notice from FEMA, the timing of the County issuing the commercial requirements two months later than the residential
requirements, and the timing of regularly scheduled Board meetings; and
WHEREAS, since March 12, 2019, property owners and private contractors have indicated that residential
property owners also need additional time to meet deadlines, especially property owners living out of the area; and
WHEREAS, on March 21, 3810 the Chief Administrative Officer approved extending the deadline for approved
County Alternative Fire Debris Removal Program applications for both residential and commercial properties to meet
property owners' needs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby ratifies the Chief
Administrative Officer's extension of the deadline for approved Couinty Alternative Fire Debris Removal Program
applications for residential and commercial properties to April 15, 2019.
