HomeMy WebLinkAbout19-034WHEREAS, in 1982, the President's Task Force on Victims of Crime envisioned e natimmai| commitment to a more equitable and supportive response tovictims; this commemorative week celebrates the energy, perseverance and commitment that launched the victims' rights movement, and continues to advance the cause of justice for all crime victims; WHEREAS, crime can leave alasting kmpmctmnany person, regardless mfage, national origin, race, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, immigration or economic status; WHEREAS, for the fiscal year ending ]ume 2028the Butte County District Attorney Victim Assistance Bureau offered advocacy services to4,119 local crime victims and filed 1,298app�Kicationstmthe Victims' Compensation Board paying $727,542mnbehalf oflocal victims; WHEREAS, honoring the rights of victims, including the right to be heard, and to be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect, and working to meet victims' needs rebuilds their trust inthe criminal justice aindsocial service systems; and WHEREAS, the Butte County District Attorney and the Victim Assistance Bu/eau are hereby dedicated to strengthening victims and survivors, building masN[emoe in our oonnmumbies, and striving for a brighter future for all victims and survivors. NOWTHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby proclaims the week of April 7, 2019 through April 13, 2019 as Crime Victims' Rights Week.
