The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State
of California, DO ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. That §23A-3 _of_ ~~ieButte ~Coiznty C"ode be_ _ ___.... __. _.
amended to read as follows:
§23A-3 Tax iii ~os~ed; amount of tam. Far the privilege
of occupancy in any hotel, each. transient is subject to and shall
i
pay a tax in the amount of six percent of the rent charged by the
operator. Such tax const~.tutes a aent owea ay tine ~ransietz~ ~~
the county whcih is extinguised only by payment to the operated
or to the county. The transient shall pay the tax to the
operated of the hotel at the-time the rent is paid. If the rent
is paid in installments, a proportionate share of the-tax shall
be paid wt1~ each installment,.: Tie -unpaid tax shall be due upon
the transient's ceasing to occupy space in the hotel. If for
any reason the tax due is not paid to the operator of the hotel,
the tax collector may require, that such tax shall be paid directly
to the tax collector.
Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect immediat ly
upon its passage and before the expiration of fifteen (15) days
after its passage, it shall be published with the names of the
members voting far and against the same in the Chico Enterprise
Record ~ ~ ~ a newspaper published in the County of Butt ,
State of California.
