HomeMy WebLinkAbout19-051WHEREAS, National Child Abuse Prevention Month will be recognized throughout the United States, aswell asin the great state of California during the month of April 2019; and WHEREAS, preventing child abuse and neglect is a community problem that depends on involvement among people throughout the community; and t0HEREAS,chNd maltreatment occurs when people find themselves in stressful situations, without community resources and don't know how to cope; and WHEREAS, child abuse and neglect can bereduced hvmaking sure each family has the support they need toraise their child ren in a healthy environment; and WHEREAS, dNUd abuse |sconsidered tu be one mfthe our nation's most serious public health problems with scientific studies documenting the link between the abuse and neglect of children aind a wide range of medical, emotional, psych o|ogKca|,and behavioral disorders; and WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships created among state and local government agencies, schools, faith communities, civic organizations, |am/ enforcement, and the business cnmrnomzy. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby procla:im April 2019 as Child Abuse Prevention Month and call upon all residents, community agencies, religious organizations, medical facilities, and businesses to increase their participation in efforts to prevent child abuse, thereby strengthening the communities in which we live.
