The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State
of California, under and pursuant to Chapter 24-30 of the Butte
County Code, and declaring an emergency, DO ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. The herinafter described area situated in
the County of Butte , State of Cala.f ornia, shall be and it is
hereby zoned as an "M-1" (Light Industrial} District for a period
of 8 months, and such area shall be subject to the restrictions
and restricted uses and regulations hereinafter specified and
provided.
Said area so zoned being located in the unincorporated
area of Butte County, Chico, more particularly described as
f ollaws
That portion of Lot 41 of "Hobart Sub" per
Map of Record in Map Book 4 on Page 24 of the
Butte County Recorder located north of
"Frontier Village Sub" per Map of Record in
Map Book 38 on Pages 76 and 77 of the Butte
County Recorder.
All of Lot 42 of "Hobart Sub" per Map of
Record in Map Book 4 on Page 24 of the Butte
County Recorder excepting therefrom the
following described parcel:
Beginning at the southwesterly corner
of said Lot 42, also being in the
centerline of Lassen Ave., thence N 530
14' E, 321.40 ft. to the centerline of
a 50 ft. drainage easement; thence N 2°
47' E, 78.08 ft.; thence N 6° 58' 15" W,
99.79 ft,; thence N 1g 06' W, 106.83 ft.;
thence N-24° 28' 45" W, 216.45 ft.;
thence N 22° 42' 30" W, 100.57 ft.;
thence along a 200 ft. radius curve
to the left, through an angle of 84°
Ol' a distance of 293.27 ft..; thence
N 16° 45' W, 25.23 ft.; thence S 73°
16' 30" W, 433,59 ft. to the westerly
line of said Lot 42; thence s 37° 41'

fi SECTION 2. REGULATIONS FOR AN "M-1" DISTRICT.
7 The following regulations shall apply in an "M-1t°
$ District:
9 (A} USES PERMITTED
10 1. Wholesale and storage warehouses.
L1 2. The assembly anal storage of goods, materials,
12 liquids and equipment (except the storage of
13 inflammable matter or explosives or materials
Z4 which create dust, odors or fumes}.
1~ 3. Feed storehouses and warehouses and fuel yards.
~.6 4. The manufacturing, processing, fabricating,
17 assembling, refining, repairing, packaging and
18 treatment of goods, materials and products by
19 power (,oil, gas or electric}, including, by way
20 of example and illustration, but not limited to
21 the manuf acturing, fabrication and assembling of
22 bathroom shower and patio partitions, enclosures
23 and doors, windows and store fronts of aluminum,
24 plastic and fiberglass, or other suitable material
~~ and the processing, finishing, polishing and
2B anodizing of aluminum extrusions and castings,

assaying, broom and brush manufacturing, die
casting, dog pounds, Braying, freighting or
trucking yard or terminals, heavy equipment rental
or sale, heating and ventilating service shops,
jewelry manufacturing, lamp shade manufacturing,
lumber yards, packaging plants, public utili~
service yard, tuck repairing and overhauling
and welding shops.
5. Dyeing and rug cleaning plants, veterinary
hospitals and animal shelters and boarding kennels,
cabinet and woodworking shops, construction and
material yards.
6. Any use permitted in C-1 and C-2 zones.
(B) THE FOLLOWING USES SUBJECT TO THE SECURING OF A
USE PERMIT IN EACHC~SE.
1. Any residential use.
2. Storage of inflammables.
3. Manufacturing of acids, explosives, fertilizer,
glue, gypsum, lime, plaster of Paris, pulp and

paper, beet sugar, crushed rock, sand and gravel,

cement, concrete and clay products.
4. Industrial uses which might be objectionable
by reason of emission of noise, offensive odor,,
smoke, dust, bright light, vibration or involving
the handling of explosives or dangerous-materials.

5. Junk yards and auto wrecking yards.
(C) THE REQUTREI"H;NTS OF SECTION 24-33 OF THIS LODE ARE
MODIFIED FOR AI~T, BUILDINGSSITES IN M-l ZONES IN THE FOLLOWING
PARTIC~]ISARS
1. There is no ' lot ::area min~.mum nor lot width
minimum except as may be required for the building
and for off-street loading area and parking.
2. Side Yard: None, except where the side of a
lot abuts an "R" District, in which case the side
yard shall be~not less than five (5) feet.
3. Rear Yard: None, except where the rear yard
abuts an "R" District, in which case the rear yard
shall be ~i.ot less than five (5} feet.
4. Truck Loading and Unloading Space: Private
off-street loading space far the handling of all
goads, materials and equipment shall be provided.
Such space shall be of sufficient area and of such
design as to permit the parking and loading of
vehicles without extending into any existing street
beyond the vurb line.
5. Off-street Parking: One parking space for each
three C3) employees or one parking space for each
two thousand (2,000) square feet of gross floor
space, whichever is greater.
SECTION 3. All uses of land within the district not
(specifically authorized and permitted are prohibited.

1 SECTION 4. In compliance with the provisions of said
2 Butte County Code, Chapter 24, the same a.s hereby amended by
3 adding this ord~.nance in full.
4 SECTION 5. The penalties for the violation of the
5 zoning hereby imposed within the district shall be as provided
6 in the Butte County Code, Chapter 24, this ordinance shall from
7 and after its effective date become a supplement to and part of
8 the Butte County Code, Chapter 24.
9 SECTION 6. Tha.s urgency ordinance shall take effect
10 immediately upon its passage, and before the expiration of
3.1 fifteen (15} days after its passage shall be publa.shed once with
12 the names of the members of the Board of Supervisors voting for
13 and against the same a.n the Chico Enterprise Record, a newspaper
14 in general circulation in the County of Butte, State ~ California.
15 The fact constituting the urgency on which this ordinance is based
