PROVIDING FOR` NOTICE OF SAIDT ELECTTOI`I ~ArdD CONSOLI- DATING SAID SPECIAL COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT ELECTION WTTH THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JUNE 6, 1978 The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of iCalifornia, DO ORDAIN as follows: Section 1(a). A special election is hereby called to be held and consolidated with the General Election on June fi, 1978, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the County the proposition of amending the Charter of the County of Butte in the following particulars: That Section Z of Article IV of the Butte County Charter be amended to read as follows: §2. Consolidation of offices. The following offices are hereby consolidated: {a} The district attorney shall be ex officio public administrator; (b) The sheriff sha11 be ex officio coroner; (c) The treasurer shall be ex officio tax collector and ex officio license collector; (d) The surveyor shall be ex officio road engineer; (e) The health officer shall be ex officio county physician; (f) The clerk shall be ex officio recorder. The aforementioned amendment shall not become effective until noon, January 2, 1979. Section 1(b}. At said election said proposition shall be submitted to the qualified voters of the County in the form of the following county measure, to wit: i 2 3 41 6 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 ],3 14 ],5 1B 17 18 I9 20 21 22 23 24 2S 2~ (Makes the County Clerk the ex officio Recorder, effective at noon, January 2, 1979.) Section 2(a). This Board does hereby submit to the qualified electors of the County at the special county charter amendment election an amendmez~.t to the Charter of the County of Butte, and hereby designates and refers to said measure in the ~ form set forth in Sectiozz 1(b) hereinafter prescribed for use at the special county charter amendment election. Section 2(b}. The special county charter amendment .election is consolidated with the General Election and shah. be held and conducted, and the votes thereat received and canvassed, and the results thereof made and the results thereof ascertained and determined as herein provided, said election shall be held as nearly as practicable in conformity with the election laws of the State of California and only qualified voters of .,the County may vote thereat. Section 2(c). The special county charter amendment elec- tion hereby called shall be and is hereby consolidated with the General Election to be held throughout the County on June 6, 197$, all as required by and pursuant to law; and the election precincts, -2- 1 2 3 4 6 8~ 7 8 9 xo lg 12 ].3 14 !, 15 16 17 18 ~.9 20 21 22 ~3 24 2B polling places and voting booths shall in every case be the same and- t-here shall be only .one .set.. of election officers. in each. of: sand precincts. The election precincts, ballots and absentee ballots, polling places and officers of election for this special county charter amendment election shall be as established for the General Election. Section 2(d). The provisions of Article 3 of Chapter 2 of Division 4 of the Elections Code shall apply to.~said special county charter amendment election and the County Counsel shall prepare az~. analysis of said county measure in the manner provided in Elections Code Section 2781. Section 2(e}. The returns of said election shall be made out and signed by the election officers and shall be by them deposited with the County Clerlc, together with the ballots cast ~at said election and the said returns shall be canvassed or caused ~to be canvassed in the same manner as provided-by law for General Elections. Section 3. Pursuant to Government Cade Section 23722 and 23709, the Clerk is hereby ordered to have the proposed charter ;amendment, as contained in Section 1(a) of this ordinance, publishe ten (10). times on ten (10} .different days in the following named newspaper, to wit: Chrico Enferprise-Record (which the Soard hereby finds and declares to be a dail~r newspaper of general circulation printed, published and circulated in the County). The last such publication shall--occur no later-than 74 days prior to..the... election. Pursuant to Government Code, Section 23731, the Clerk is hereby ordered to have this ordinance published five (5) times on five (5) different days, prior to the herein set election, in the following named newspaper, to wit : OroviilE Mercury (which the Board hereby farads and declares to be a daily newspaper of general circulation printed, published and circulated in the County.) No notices of the election hereby called, other than thosE specified in Section 3 of this ordinance, need be given. Section 4. Pursuant to Government Code, Section 25123, this ordinance shall take effect immediately.
