RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF KAREN ELY UPON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE
BUTTE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICES
WHEREAS, Karen Ely, Assistant Director of the Department of Employment and Social Services (DESS), has
announced her retirement effective July 6, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Karen began her career with the County of Butte and DESS in May 3, 1999, as a Social Worker
promoting to Welfare Staff Analyst in December 1999, then to Administrative Analyst, Senior December 2004. Karen
promoted to Program Manager in April 2005 before promoting to her current position as Assistant Director on February
2017; and
WHEREAS, Karen provided strong leadership within the department and in the community by encouraging and
modeling a spirit of collaboration, cooperation and excellent customer service; and
WHEREAS, Karen has devoted her career to improving the lives of children, families and seniors and has taken
great pride in her job as a public servant, conducting herself with the highest level of integrity and responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Karen has worked diligently for the past 20 years, in the best interest of Butte County and its citizens,
earning the respect of her supervisors, her peers and the many community members she has served over the years; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board, on its own behalf and on behalf of the citizens of Butte County,
extends its appreciation for your many years of dedicated service.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 11th day of June, 2019, the fallowing vote:
