HomeMy WebLinkAbout19-211Resolution No. 19-211 WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes Becky Callas for her 35 years ofdedicated public service, including 20 years of service to the residents of Butte County as an employee of the Butte County Sheriffs Office; and WHEREAS, BeckvCa|tmsbenamhercareerofpub|icsem/icain19Q4whemshewasappmimtedbmbeapnhcemffiner with the Aspen Colorado Police Department, serving as e patrol officer, a field training officer and a DUI enforcement instructor. Then, promoted toPatrol Sergeant imJuly 1989 and tmAssistant Chief oƒPolice in2994.While working full-time as a Uavv enforcement officer and raising two daughters, Becky pursued and obtained o Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University ofColorado, from 19,90to1,993; and WHEREAS, Becky Callas moved back to, her beloved State of California in May 1998 and worked for the Chico Police Department for 15months asaCommunity Services Officer. Then |m1989,Becky took aposition asanAnalyst with Butte County Superior Court; and WHEREAS, Becky Callas, was hired by the Butte County Sheriffs Office in February 2001, ultimately promoting to the position ofFiscal Manager. During hertenure at the Sheriffs Office, Becky was instrumental in consolidating numerous accounting and business functions into a single unit, m/hluh greatly enhanced operational efficiency and improved numerous business processes. Following the tragic loss of Lt. Lorry Estes and Deputy VWNUenm Hunter, Becky was the primary survivor benefits coordinator for families of those fallen deputies and assisted in managing the construction of the memorial garden built imtheir honor. Asa result ofher professionalism and expertise, Becky was recognized as the Financiail Manager of the Year by the California State Sheriffs' Association in, 2008. Becky worked with General Services on the electronic purchasing module, pilot �roject and joined the county Logistics Team for assignment during emergencies and disasters. Becky managed and coordinated multiple remodel and systems improvement projects tufurther the mm|ss|onofthe Sheriffs Office; and WHEREAS, after 35 year career in puWic safety, which she loved and continually showed the highest levels of NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby express their deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication and devotion given by Becky Callas during her career with the Butte County Sherifrs Office. vote PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 25th day of June, 2019, by the following AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Lucero, Ritter, Teeter, and Chair Lambert NOES: ABSENT: NOT VOTING: Steve Larnbeair Butte Cok rPoard of Supervisors ATTEST: Shari McCracken, Chief Administrative Officer and Clerk of the Bgar4 of Supervisors
