HomeMy WebLinkAbout19-264WHEREAS, the State of California has proclaimed the second week of October as Code Enforcement Officer Appreciation Week; and WHEREAS, Code Enforcement Officers provide for the safety, health, and welfare of citizens throughout Butte County through the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and ordinances dealing with various issues of building, zoning, housing, marijuana, abandoned vehicles, and life safety; and WHEREAS, Code Enforcement is a complaint based program and they strive to educate and achieve compliance through public outreach; and WHEREAS, Code Enforcement Officers have challenging and demanding roles and often do not receive recognition for the job they do in improving quality of life for residents and businesses of local communities; and WHEREAS, the role of many Code Enforcement Officers has, expanded in recent years with jurisdictions increasingly relying on the expertise and training of Code Enforcement Officers in their communities; and WHEREAS, Code Enforcement Officers are dedicated, highly qualified, and highly trained professionals, who share the goals of preventing neighborhood deterioration, enhancing communities, ensuring safety, and preserving property values through knowledge, training, and application of housing, zoning, and nuisance laws; and WHEREAS, Code Enforcement Officers often have a highly visible role in the County of Butte and regularly interact with the public and a variety of federal, state, county, and local officials in their capacity as code enforcement officers; and WHEREAS, The Colunity of Butte wants to recognize and honor the Code Enforcement Officers that serve our community and acknowledge their role in leading the way to improve quality of life within, our community; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby proclaims October 6 through October 12, 2019, as Code Enforcement Officer Appreciation Week in Butte County. vote: PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 8"1 day of October, 2019, by the following AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Lucero, Ritter, Teeter, and Chair Lambert NOES: ABSENT: NOT VOTING: Steve Lambert,r ATTEST: Butte County Bct/rdof Supervisors Shari McCracken, Chief Administrative Officer and Clerk of the Board r pervisors By: Deputy
