WHEREAS, Butte County is responsible for maintenance of Autrey Lane and Via Canela in the vicinity of the Palermo Union
School District Properties; and
WHEREAS, The Palermo Union School District sought direction and technical help to alleviate traffic concerns with their
students walking to the school areas of Helen M. Wilcox Elementary School and Golden Hlills Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) provides technical direction and warrants to control
pedestrian crosswalks; and
WHEREAS, Butte County is an active participant in the Safe (Routes to Schools Program
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California that the
intersection of Autrey Lane at Via Canela shall have an all -way stop controlled intersection and the Director of Public Works
is hereby instructed to install Stop Signs and markings at the appropriate entrances thereto.
