The Board of Supervisors of the. County of Butte, State
of California, .D.O ORDAIN,..as .follows.: _. _
~Sect~ion: 1. That §15-15 of the Butte County Code is
f hereby ar~.ended to read as follows:
§15-15. Littering.
Litter is defined as any quantity of paper, metal,
plastic, glass or miscellaneous solid waste which may be classed
as trash, debris, rubbish, refuse, garbage or junk.
It shall be unlawful for any person to:
(a) Leave or permit to remain an any public highway,
alley, sidewalk, cross-walk or other public way open for pedestrian
travel, any merchandise, baggage, or any article of personal
p.raperty, provided that the foregoing does not apply to any
temporary rack or stand used for the purpose of displaying news-
papers for sale, while such rack or stand is so used if such rake
or stand does not occupy any portion of the highway set aside for
vehicular use and such rack or stand does not cover an area
exceeding ten square feet.
(b} Deposit or throw any litter on any public highway
or sidewalk, or on any private property without the consent of the
owner or persons in lawful possession thereof.
(e) Tt shall be unlawful for any person, firm,
corporation, institution oz organization to transport any loose .
cargo by truck or other motor vehicle within the corporate limits
of the county unless said cargo is covered and secured in such

manner as to prevent depositing of litter on public and private
property. ._..._

S'ecti'on 2. This ordinance shall be and it is hereby
declared to be in full force and effect from and after thirty (30}
days after the date of its passage, and before the expiration of
fifteen {l5} days after its passage, this ordinance shall be
published once with the names of the members of the Board of
Supervisors voting for and against it in the' Chico_~nter_~rise Record
a newspaper published in the County of Butte,
State of California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Super-
visors this 23rd day of October, 1979, by the following vote:
AYES : Supervisors Dolan, Moseley and Chairman Lemke
NOES : None
ABSENT: Supervisors Wheeler and Winston
