STATE OF CALIFORNIA 3 RESOLUTION TN OPPOSITION TO FIXED BRIDGE ACROSS SACRAMENTO RIVER AT "R" STREET SACRAMENTO CALIFORI~7IA 4 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors o£ the County of Butte, 5 State of California, has received from the U. S. Army Engineer 6 District, Sacramento, Corps of Engineers, a public notice 7 concerning Application No. 3112, which states that the Chief 8 of Engineers, Washington, D. C., on January 18, 1961, approved 9 plans for a fixed bridge across the Sacramento River at "R" 10 Street, Sacramento, California, which said bridge would provide 11 a minimum vertical clearance of 40 feet above project flood 12 plane; and 13 WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of said Board I4 by public comments, including the statement of U. S. Congressman 15 John E. Moss, that such a fixed bridge would interfere with 16 navigation on the upper Sacramento River, and in particular, 17 would make impossible the use of certain types of dredges 18 to remedy flood damage and provide channel clearance and other 19 necessary work on the upper reaches of said river; 20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE50LVED by the BOARD OF SUPERVISORS 21 of the COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, as follows, to wit: 22 1. That said board, for the reasons hereinabove stated, 23 desires to go on record as opposing the approval of any plans 24 for a fixed bridge across the Sacramento River at "R" Street, 25 Sacramento, California. 26 2. That the clerk of this board is hereby authorized to 27 forward 3 certified copies of this Resolution to the U. S. Army 28 Engineer District, Sacramento, Corps of Engineers, Wright 29 Building, 1209 Eighth Street, Sacramento, California, one copy 30 to U. S. Congressman John E. Moss, one copy to U. S. 31 Congressman Harold T.
