AN ORDINANCE AMEND~NG BUTTE COUNTY CODE
SECTiON 15-158 POSTING HEQUTREMENTS
RELAT~VE TO SMOKING ORDINANCE
The Board o~ Supervisors o~ the Co~ntp o~ Butte, ~tate
of California, DO ORDATN, as foYlows:
5ectio~ 1. Tha~ Section o~ the Bu~te County Code is
hereby amended to read as ~o~lows:
§15-I58. Pos~ing Requxrement~.
"Smoking" or "No Smok~ng" szgns, whichever are
approprza~e, with letters a~ not less than one (1) inch i,n height
or ~he In~erna~ional "No Smoking" sqmbo]. (consis~ing of a
pxc~orial representation o~ a burn.a~ng cigarette enclosed in a red
circle not less than ~" in diameter wi~h a red bar acx~oss it},
sha~.1 be clearly, su~~iciently and conspi.cuously posted in every
building or other place where smok~ng is contro~led bq this
art~.cle, by ~the owner, operator, manager or othe~ person having
camtral o~ such buil.di.ng or other pJ.ace.
Every restaurant regula~ed by this Ordinance wa.ll have
posted at its entrance a sign clear~y s~ating tha~ a nonsmokzng
sectz.on is avail.able, and every patron shall be asked as to his
~~• or her pre~erence.
Section 2. This Ordi.nance sha~.7. be and it is hereby
declared ~o be in ~u~1 force and e~~ec~ from and after thirty
(30} days a~~er ~he date o~ its passage, and be~ore the
expiration o~ ~i~teen (15) days a~~er its passage, this Ordinance
sha11 be pubZished once w~-th the names of the members of the
Board of Supervisors voti.ng for and agai~.st it in ~he Orovi7le
Mercury , a newspaper published a.n ~he County o~
