AN ORD~NANCE AMEND~NG BUTTE COUNTY CODE
SECTIONS 4~1.5, 4-~.6 and 4-11
The Board of Superviso~s of the County o~ Butte, State
af California, DO ORDAIN, as follows:
Sect~on 1. That Section 4-1.5 0~ th~ Butte Coun~y Code
is hereby a.mended ~o read as ~o17.ows:
Sec. 4-1.5. Dogs runnxng at large-Prohibi~ed.
Notw~.thstanding a,nqthing to ~he con~rary in section ~~-1
through ~-1.3, this section shall apply in the unicorporated
areas o~ the coun~y as described in sect~on 4--1.6. Wi~hxn ~he
unincoxpora-t~d areas d~scr~.bed in sect~on 4-1.6, it sha~.l be
unlawfu~. ~or any person owning, possessing or having custody or
control of a dog to ai~.ow or permit such dog, whether licensed
or, unlicensed, to be or run in or upon any pub7.a.c or private
plac~ or premises within the county other than those o~ such
owner-or custodian, excep~ in the ~o~lowing instances:
{a) Upon the private prema.ses o~ another, by and with
the consen~ o~ ~he owner o~ such private premises;
(b} Upon a public street, ~~dewalk or way while under
the e~~ec~ive con~rol of the person who has the dag
under contro~ by a leash as def~ned herein, capable o~
contro~Iing and who does main~ain ef~ective con~rol o~
such dog a~ a~7. times to the end that such dog shali
not be al7.owed to comm~.t any act of nuisance. "Leash"
is hereby de~ined as a~~exibl.e rope, strap, cord or
chain not over six {6) ~eet in leng~h, o~ such strength
and design ~.s to be capab~e o~ restrai.ning the dog for

which it is being used to lead or restrain.
S~c. 4-~.6. Same-Applicable terri~ory.
The urban ar~as to which sectxon 4-1.5 is applicab~e
are known as the unincorpora~ed areas within ~he spheres o~
in~~uence o~ the incorporated ci~ies and more speci~~cally
according ~o th~ maps adop~ed by the Butte Coun~y Local Agency
Formulation Commission as the spheres o~ infXuence for the cities
o~ Biggs, Chico, Gridley, Oroville, and the Town a~ Paradise.
Sec. 4-11. Fees ~or impoundment.
The poundmaster shall charge and col~ect ~ees from
ani~al own~rs ~ox ~he redemption o~ i~pounded animals according
to the ~ollowing schedule:
{1) ~mpoundment: Fees
1st impoundmant, per animal ..................~25.0~
2nd impoundmen~, p~r an~mal ..................40.Q0
3rd and subsequent impoundments, per animai..60.00
Boarding ~ee, per day ........................ 5.00
(2} Boarding fee, per day:
Pou~try, Rabbits a~d other small size anzmals.Z.OD
Goats, Pigs, and o~her medium size anima~s....2.00
Horses, Caws, and other ~arge si~e animals....5.00
(3) Trai~er~ng ~ees:
Impaunded an~mal .......................Actual Cost
The f~rst, s~cond, third and subsequent impoundm~nts of an
animal or ani~a~s shall be accumulated a~d counted ~n accordance
with ~he annual licens~ng p~riod.
Section 2. This ~rdinanc~ sha~1 be and it is hereby

expiration af fi~teen (~5} days a~ter ~ts passage, this Ordxnance
sha~l be pub~ished once with the names of the members of the
Board o~ Supervisors votxng for and against it in the Orovi7le
Mercury , a newspaper p~blished in th~ County o~
Butte, Stat~ of Cali~ornia.
