AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTxCLE II OF CHAPTER 22 ENTITLED
"PARKING ON PROPERTY NOT DESIGNATED AS TRAILER CAMP, ETC.°
AND ADDING SECTIONS 24-21.9~ AND 24-3$ REGARDING CAMPING
TO CHAPTER 24 OF THE BIITTE COUNTY CODE
THE BOARD ~F SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF
CALIFORN~A, ORUA~NS AS FOLLOWS:
1. Article II of Chapter 22 entitled "Parking On Property Not
Design.ated as Trailer Ca.rnp, eta." is hereby repealed.
2. Section 24-21.95 is hereby added to the Butt~ County Code to
~read as follows:
Section 24-21.9~. Camping
Occupying or maintaining for occupancy any place ~or temporary
living, sleeping or other human occupancy purposes. "Carnping" does
not include: the park~.ng or storage of an unoccupied and otherwise
~unused trail~r coach, recreatian vehicle, or tent trailer on a
privately ow'ned parcel, as de~ined ~n Section 24-21.31; occ~zpya.ng a
trailer coach, or recreation vehicle, connec~.ed pursuant to County
permit to perman.ent sewage disposal and water supply systems; or
occupying a trailer coach or a recreation vehic~e for any accessory
use a~lowed in the applicable zoning distri.ct.
3. Section 24-38 is hereby added to the Butte County Gode ta
Ilread as follows:
Section 24-38. Camping Limi.tations and Prohibitions
(a) No person shall p~ace ar park or allow the placing or
parking o~ any trailer coach, recreation vehicle, tent trailer or tent
or otherwis~ occupy or a11ow the occ~pancy af any parcel. {as de~ined
in Sec. 2~4-21..31) for the p~rpose of ca~nping (as defined in Section

24-21.95) on pub~ic or private property within the County for a period
in excess af 9 days in any one calendar year, except in an outdoor
~ecr~at~.onal, facility, camp ground, recreation vehicle park, ar
hunting/~ishing camp, lawfully estab].ished and main~ained pursuant to
this Chapter.
(b) No person or persons shall plaee or park on any parcel {as
de~ined in Section 24-21.3I), at the same time, more than a combined
total of two ~railer coaches, r~cr~ation vehicles, tent trail.ers, or
tents, for ~he pu~pose of camping {as defined in Section 24-21.95),
except in an outdonr recreational facility, camp ground, recreat~on
vehicle park, or hunting/fishing camp, law~ully established and
maintained pursuant to this Chapter.
(c) No more ~han two ~amilies, as defined in Section 24-21.14,
shall occupy any parcel (as defined in Sectio~ 24-21.31), at the same
tizne, for the purpose of campa.ng {as de~ined in Sec~ion 24-21.95),
except in an autdoor recreational faci~ity, camp ground, recreatian
vehicle park, or hun~ing/fishing camp, I.awfu~ly es~ablished and
maintained pursuant ~.o this Chapter.
4. Severability.
If any section, subsection or partion of this ordinance is far
any r~ason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision o~
any court o~ compe~ent j~risdic~ion, such decision shall no~ a~fect
the vala.dity of the remaining sections, subsections, or portions a~
this ordinance. The Board o~ Sup~rvisors hereby declares ~ha~. it
wou~.d have adop~.ed this ardinance and ~ach section, subsection or
portion thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one ox mare
section, subsec~.ions or portions be dee].ared invalid or
unconstitutiona]..

SECTI~N 5. This ~rdinance shall be and it is hereby deciared to be
in fuZl farce and effect fram and af#~r thirty (30) days after #he da#e of its passage,
and befare the expiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage, this 4rdxnance shail
be published once with the names of the rnembers af the Board of Supervisors
voting for and against it ir~ the Paradise Pas#, a newspaper published in the County
of Butte, State of California.
