~ AN ORDINANCE ADDING CHAPTER 44 TO THE BUTTE COUNTY
CODE REGARDING JUVENILE HALL CHARGES

The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte ordains as

follows:

Section 1. Chapter 44 is added to the Butte County Code to read as
6
follows:

Section 44-1. Liabilit for Cost of Minor's Su art in Juvenile
9
Hall.
10 A parent of a minor, the estate of a parent, and the estate of
11 the minor, shall, pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code section
l~ 903 and this section be liable for the reasonable cost of support of,
1~ the minor while the minor is placed, detained in, or committed to, the
14 Butte County Juvenile Hall pursuant to an order of the Juvenile Court.
~5 The liability of these persons and estates shall be a joint and
lfi severable liability.
1i The reasonable cost of support of a minor chargeable pursuant to
~~ this section, based upon the average actual costs incurred by the
1~l County for food and food preparations, clothing, personal supplies and
`~ medical expenses, and excluding costs of incarceration, treatment ar
91 supervision, is determined (pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code
~2 section 904) to be $6.86 per day.
~~~ 44-2. Juvenile Hall Rate Billable To Other Counties.
oq Other counties which place or detain or commit minor persons to
25 the Butte County Juvenile Hall pursuant to the order of a Juvenile
9~ Court sha11 be liable to Butte County for the costs for the care,
~~~ support and maintnence of such minor persons at the Juvenile Hall.
~~; The average cost of such care, support and maintence is determined

{pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code section 904) to be $56.83
per day.
Section 2. Severability._ Tf any part of this ordinance shall be
held void by a court of competent jurisdiction, such part shall be
deemed severable, and the invalidity thereof shall not affect the
remaining parts of this ordinance.
Section 3.
This Ordinance shall be and it is hereby declared to be in
full force and effect from and after thirty (30} days after the date
of its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen (15) days after
its passage, this Ordinance shall be published once with the names of
the members of the Board of Supervisors voting for and against it in
the Gridley Herald a newspaper published in the County of
Butte, State of California.

Butte, State of California, on the 4th day of June
