ORDINANCE AUTHORISING CHICO
REDSVEIAPMENT AGENCY TO PREFABS
A PRELIMINARY REPORT FOR REDSVSLOPMENT OF
CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE COIINTY OF BUTTE
WHEREAS, there is no redevelopment agency empowered
to transact business or exercise any powers of redevelopment
agencies as set forth in the Community Redevelopment Law
{Health and Safety Code Section 33000 ems) in certain
portions of the County of Butte located adjacent to the City
of Chico hereinafter referred to as the Adjacent County Areas,
as described on the map of the adjacent county areas attached
hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein; and
WHEREAS, the City of Chico (the "City") has established
the Chico Redevelopment Agency (the "Agency") and designated
itself as an agency pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section
33200; and
WHEREAS, the County of Butte and the City of Chico are
exploring the feasibility of a joint redevelopment project in
the Adjacent County Areas known as the Greater Chico Urban
Area Redevelopment Project Area; and
WHEREAS, the Gounty has not yet determined whether such
project is economically feasible and in the best interest of
the County; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable, appropriate and in the best
interests of the residents of Butte County that this Board
authorize redevelopment of the Adjacent County Areas by the City

and the Chico Redevelopment Agency in conjunction with the
proposed redevelopment by the City and Agency of portions of the
City which are contiguous to the Adjacent County Areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF
BUTTE DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Chico Redevelopment Agency is hereby
authorized pursuant to Health & Safety Code Section 33213 to
develop the "Preliminary Report" for redevelopment of the Adjacent
County Areas in conjunction frith redevelapzrent of adjacent
portions of the City of Chico.
Section 2. Prior to distribution of the Preliminary
Report, pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 33344.5, the
County shall review the Preliminary Report on the proposed
redevelopment plan for the Adjacent County Areas (the "Preliminary
Report") to determine whether or not it wishes the Agency to
proceed with redevelopment of the Adjacent county Areas. If the
County wishes to terminate the Agency's authority to redevelop the
Adjacent County Areas pursuant to this Ordinance, it may do so by
repealing this Ordinance.
Section_3. This Ordinance sha11 take effect thirty (30)
days after its adoption and before the expiration of fifteen (15)
days after its passage shall be published once with the names of
the Board of Supervisors voting for and against the same in the
Chico Er~terpri se Record a newspaper of general circulation in the
County of Butte.
The foregoing Ordinance was introduced at a meeting of the
Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte held on dui 2
