AN ORDTNANCE ADDING SECTION 2-17.5 TO ARTICLE TI
OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE BUTTE COUNTY CODE REGARDING
THE RALPH M. BROWN ACT
The Board of Superv~sors of the County of Butte ordains as follows:
Sectian 1. Seation 2-17.5 is added to Article zT of Chapter 2 of the
Butte County Code to read as follows:
"S~ction 2-17.5. Ral h M. Brown Act A licable to Count Boa~d of
Su ervisors and Other Count Le isl.ative Bod~es.
"{a) Findinas. The Board of Supervisors h~reby finds and
declares that complete, faithfu~. and uninte~preted compliance
with the Ralph M. Brown Act (Chapter 9(commencing with Section
54950) of Part 1 of Division 2 of Title 5 of the Government
Code) is a matter of overriding public importance to ensure
that actions of each County legislative bady are taken openl.y
and that their deliberatians are conducted openly.
(b} Requirements ta Remain in Effect Even ~f Voluntary Under
State Law. No future Ca~~farnia State Budget Act, or related
budget enactments, sha~l, in any ~anner, be interpreted by the
County of Butte to suspend, eliminate, or otherwise modify the
legal obligation and duty of the County of Butte to fully
comply with the requirements of the Brown Act, inc~uding, bnt
not limited to, the requirements of Government Code Sections
54954.2 and 54954.3. Each "~egislative body" (as def ined in
the Brown Act) of the County of Butte shaZl comply with the

Section 2. S~verabi~it .
If any part of this ordinanc~ shall be held void by a court of
competent jurisdict~on, such part shall be deemed severable, and the
inva~.idity thereaf shall not af~ect the remaining parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. Effective Date and Pub~ication. This Ordinance shal~. be and
it a.s hereby declared to be in full force and effect from and after thirty
(30) days after the date of its passage, and before the expiration of
f3fteen (~5) days a~ter its passage, this Ordinance shall be published
once with the names o~ the member~ of the Board of Supervisors vating for

published in the County o~ Butte, State of California.
