AMENDING CHAPTER 4 OF THE BUTTE COUNTY CODE, 3 ENTITLED "ANIMALS", BY AMENDING SECTION 4-2 OF ARTICLE I PERTAINING TO REGISTRATION OF DOGS, AND BY ADDING 4 ARTICLE TII PERTAINING TO VACCINATION OF CATS AND ANIMAL VACCINATION REPORTING 5 6 The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, ORDAINS, as follows: 7 Section 1. Section 42 of the Butte Count Code is amended to read as follows: 8 "Section 42. Registration required. 9 Every person who lives in the unincorporated area of the county and who owns 10 or keeps a dog that is over four {4}months old shall register his or her dog within thirty 11 (30) days after: 12 {a) Such a dog reaches the age of four (4) months; 13 {b} Such person moves into the unincorporated area of the county; or 14 (c} Such person acquires the dog. I5 Registration shall be accomplished by purchasing a license from the 16 poundmaster or his or her duly authorized designee. 17 The initial license issued for any dog may be far a minimum of six (b) months. 18 Subsequent licenses may be issued for periods between seven (7) months and three (3) 19 years. The dog license fees for fractional year licenses may be prorated on a monthly 20 basis." 21 Section 2 - Article III is added to Chapter 4 of the Butte County,.,,Cgde to read as 22 follows• 23 "Article III. Cat Vaccination; Animal Vaccination Reporting 24 Section 420. Cat Rabies Vaccinations Required 25 Any person who owns a domestic cat aver (4) months of age in Butte County 26 shall have such cat vaccinated against rabies. The vaccination shall be maintained 27 28 1 1 current with a vaccine approved far use by the California Department of Health 2 Services for a duration of immunity of thirty-six {36) months. 3 4 Section 420.1. Rabies Vaccination Reporting 5 The owner of every animal vaccinated against rabies by a veterinarian shall be 6 provided a rabies vaccination certificate completed in the same form and content as 7 required by the California State Health and Safety code. A copy of the completed 8 certificate shall be provided by the veterinarian to the Health Officer within thirty (30) 9 days of the vaccination.
