RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVLSORS
OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE

2 WHEREAS, 'the 1959 Legislature of the State of California did adopt
3 Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 62; and
4 WHEREAS, studies were undertaken by the Department of Public Works of
5 the State of California pursuant to said concurrent resolution; and
8 WHEREAS, the results of these studies showed critical deficiencies in
7 the County road and City street system of the State of California; and
8 WHEREAS, such deficiency on the first and second order County road
9 and City street system in the County of Butte for the t~renty-year period,
10 1960 to 1980 alone amounts to Fifty-six PSillion Six Hundred Sixty--four

Thousand Dollars ($5b,66cE.,~tb); and

WHEt~EAS, it is beyond the financial ability of the cities and counties
'13
to meet but a small part of'the cost of correcting said deficiencies;
14 NOW TFHi~EFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Board of Supervisors that the
15
Legislature of this State of California be urgentlp requested to enact
16
legislation to provide additional monies to the cities and counties of this
17'
State, on a matching basis, to assist them in overcoming the deficiencies
18
existing on the two top systems of city streets and county roads as
19
disclosed by studies of the Department of Public Works; and
20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clark of this Board be directed to

forward certified copies of this resolution to the Secretary of the Senate,
22
the Clerk of the Assemb],y, Senator Paul L. Byrne, Senator Randolph Collier,
23
Assemblyman Harold T. Sedgwick and such other persons as may be deemed
24
appropriate.

The foregoing resolution was offered by Supervisor St ei ne~~er

seconded by Supervisor Pryde and adopted by the following vote:
