AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE XVII SECTION 2-140 TO THE BUTTE
COUNTY CODE REGARDING QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF
COUNTY AUDITOR-CONTROLLER
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte ordains as follows:
No person shall hereafter be elected or appointed to the Office of the County
Auditor of the County of Butte unless;
a. [S]He possesses a valid certifcate issued by the California State Board of
Accountancy under the provisions of Chapter 1, Division 3 of the Business and
Professions Code showing him/her to be, and pernut him/her to practice as, a
Certified Public Accountant or as a Public Accountant; or
b. [S]He possesses a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university, college,
or other four-year institution, with a major in accounting or its equivalent, as
described in subdivision (a) of Section 5081.1 of the Business and Professions
Code; or
c. [S]He possesses a certificate issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors
showing the person to be a designated..professional..internal auditor,..with..a
minimum of 16 college semester units, or their equivalent, in accounting, or
finance.; or

d. [S]He has served as county auditor, chief deputy county auditor, or chief
assistant county auditor for a continuous period of not less than three (3}
years.
This ordinance shall not apply to any person duly elected or appointed as a County
Auditor and actually serving as such officer on the effective date of this
Ordinance, and such person shall be deemed to be eligible to hold, and to be re-
elected to, said ofIā¢ice, not withstanding the provisions of this Ordinance.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte,
State of California, on the 13thday of January 199 by the following
vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Aolan, Houx, Josiassen and Chair Davis
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
