3 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE
4 RELATIVE TO BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COMPENSATION

6 The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
7 California DO ORDAIN, as follows:
8 Section 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance 2657 and Section 1 of
9 Ordinance 30$$ are hereby amended to read as follows:
10 §3. The County of Butte sha11 provide transportation far
11 the members of the Board of Supervisors for attendance to all county
12 related activities and events. Members of the Board may select one
13 of the following two alternatives as and for a transportation
14 allowance.
15 1. A Board member may receive $520 per month for transportation
lb costs inside the county. For official trips outside the County in
17 which a Board member utilizes his or her personal vehicle he/she shall
18 be reimbursed at the IRS mileage rate.
19 2. A Board member may choose to use a private non-county owned
20 vehicle and be reimbursed for actual mileage traveled on county
21 business at the IRS mileage rate up to a maximum of $520 for mileage
22 within the county for any given month. Official out of county mileage
23 shall not be counted toward the in county monthly reimbursement
24 maximum.
25 3. Individual Board members who elect the monthly X520
26 allowance shall be paid that amount on or about the effective date of
27 this ordinance providing they have not previously received an
28 allowance for the month this ordinance is effective, and thereafter

monthly.
4. Each member of the Board will comply with the County's
policies and procedures regarding insurance requirements.
5. Upon written request to the County Auditor/Controller, each
member shall be entitled to a $70 per month flat monthly allowance for
purchase/rental and usage costs for a cellular phone. As an
alternative to the above, each member may choose to use a private non-
county owned cellular phone and be reimbursed for those actual usage
costs directly associated with county business.
6. Each member of the Board of Supervisors shall be reimbursed
for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the course of official
county business, including meals and lodging and all other actual and
necessary expenses, other than transportation expenses included above,
which shall be incurred by them, subject to normal budgetary and
appropriation controls.
Section 2. Severability. If any part of this ordinance shall
be held void by a court of competent jurisdiction, such part sha11 be
deemed severable, and the invalidity thereof sha11 not affect the
remaining parts of this ordinance.
Section 3 Effective Date: Publication. This ordinance shall take
effect on September 26, 1.998 which is 60 days after the date of its
adoption, and before the expiration of 15 days after its passage. Zt
shall be published with the names of the members of the Board of
Supervisors voting for and against the same in the Oroville Mercury,
a newspaper published in the County of Butte, State of California
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte, State of California, on the 28th day of July 1998,
by the following vote:
