8 The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, DO
9 ORDAIN as follows:
10 Section 1 that Section 68 of Ordinance No. of the County of Butte entitled
11 "SALARY PLAN FOR CLASSIFIED POSITIONS, REFERENCE E: SOCIAL
12 SERVICES WORKERS' UNIT CLASSIFICATIONS" is hereby deleted i n its entirety.
13 Section 2 that Section 68 of Ordinance No. of the County of Butte entitled
14 "SALARY PLAN FOR CLASSIFIED POSITIONS, REFERENCE E: SOCIAL

NOTICE OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS'
ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE; SUMMARY OF
SALARY ORDINANCE AND POSITION ALLOCATION
OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte gives notice pursuant to Government
Code Section 25124{b}(1) of its adoption a new Salary Ordinance which will supersede the
existing Salary Ordinance Number 3452, as amended. The new Salary Ordinance No. 3531 was
introduced at the regular meeting of the Board on June $, 1999, and adopted at the regular
meeting of the Board on June 22, 1999. A certified copy of the full text of the proposed Salary
Ordinance has been posted in the Office of the Clerk of the Board at 25 County Center Drive,
Oroville, California, since June 1, 1999. Except for correction of typographical and technical
errors, the renumbering of sections, and as otherwise indicated below, the substance of the
proposed ordinance is the same as in Ordinance No. 3452, as amended.
The fallowing is a summary of the proposed ordinance:
Section 1: Subiect and Short Title. Identifies the subject of the ordinance as determining
salaries and positions and that it shall be known as the "Salary Ordinance".
Section 2 through fi7: Allocated Positions. Identifies the number of allocated positions and
appropriate classification designation staff ng levels by Budget Unit Number and Department
Name. The proposed changes in these sections are as follows:
Section 3 entitled "010-Oil Board of Supervisors" extends one {1) term position of
Supervisor's Administrative Assistant or Supervisor's Clerical Aid to 06-30-2000;
Section 9 entitled "060003 Administrative -Emergency Services" adds one one-quarter time
(.25) term position of Off ce Assistant Il, l {term position to end 02-Oi-2000);
Section 12 entitled "090-001 Personnel" deletes one (1) position of Personnel Analyst II, I
and adds one (1) position of Personnel Analyst III, II, I;
Section 17 entitled "320-001 District Attorney -Criminal" extends one (1) term position of
Investigative Assistant to Ob-30-2000; and one (1}term position of Legal Typist Clerk or Office
Assistant II to 06-30-2000;
Section 1$ entitled "320-002 District Attorney -Family Support Division" adds one (1}
position of Investigative Assistant and one (1}position of Information Systems Technician II;
Section 21 entitled "360-001 Sheriff Coroner -Services" extends one (1} term position of
Deputy Sheriff to 06-30-2000;
Section 30 entitled "430-001 Probation" adds four {4} positions of Probation Officer III, II, I;
extends the term position of one (1} Probation Officer III, II, I to 06-30-2000; and extends the
term position of one three-quarters time (.75) Office Assistant II to 06-30-2000;
Section 34 entitled "440-002 Development Services -Building inspection" deletes orie (1)
position of Engineering Technician II, I;
Section 41 entitled "500-OOi Public Guardian -Public Administrator" is deleted in its
entirety;
Section 43 entitled "530-004 Public Works -Engineering & Administration" adds one (1}
position of Engineering Technician II, I;
Section 47 entitled "540-001 Public Health -General Services" extends the term position of
one (1) Public Health Assistant I to 12-31-99;

Services Systems Specialist; one (1}position of Accounting Specialist, Senior Account Clerk, or
Account Clerk; one { 1 }position of Office Assistant Ii, I; one { 1 }position of Office Assistant III;
and one {1} position of Paralegal;
Section 53 entitled "570-004 Welfare - Ser`rices" adds one (1} position Social Worker N;
and
Section 55 entitled "570-008 Welfare _ Public Guardian" is added together with the
following positions one (1) position of Manager-Public Guardian/Public Administrator; and two
{2} positions of Specialist-Public Guardian/Public Administrator.
Section 68: Salary Plan for Classifed Positions. Identifies the Classified Positions and the
appropriate salary designation per classification by employee association unit.
Section 69: Salary Plan for Elected and Aon~inted Officials. Identifies the appropriate salary
range designation for appointed and elected officials. Changes to this section include the
following:
Reference A entitled "Appointed Department Heads" deletes one (1) position of Public
Guardian/Public Administrator.
Section 70: Payment of Salaries and Wages. Specifies salary and wage policies shall be in
accordance with the Merit System Ordinance and Resolution and when salaries are to be paid.
Section 7I: Repeal. Repeals Salary Ordinance 3452, all ordinances making amendments
thereto, and any and all other inconsistent ordinances.
Section 72: Severability. The invalidity of any part of the ordinance shall not affect the
remaining parts.
Section 73: Effective Date and Publication. The Salary Ordinance shall be in effect as of
July 1, 1999. Within f fteen (15) days after its passage, a summary shall be published with the
names of those supervisors voting for and against it, and a certified copy of the full text shall be
posted in the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.
