'1 BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
2 COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
3 RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE PASSAGE OF ASSEMBLY BILL 16
4 WHEREAS, Assembly Bi11 16 has been introduced in the 1961
5 session of the California State legislature, which provides
6 that the Superior Court Clerks be removed from the jurisdiction
7 of the County Clerk and the Board of Supervisors and that a
8 position of "judicial assistant" would be appointed by the
9 Court at an unspecified salary to be set later by the Legislature;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, the introduction of this bill is a violation of
12 'home rule, by transferring many positions from the County to
13 the State control, thereby creating many administrative problems ~',
14 and adding greatly to the expense of conducting the Superior ~
15 Courts; and
16 WHEREAS, the taxpayers of this State are now greatly
17 burdened and Assembly Bill 16 would increase the taxes by adding
18 many unnecessary administrative positions.
19 NOWs THEREFOREB BE IT ,RESOLVED by the BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
20 of the COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, as follows:
21 1. That said Board does hereby oppose the passage of
22 's.Assembly;Bi11 16, and urges legislators representing the County
23 of Butte to oppose said bill.
24 2. That the Clerk of this Board is hereby authorized to
25 forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Senator Paul L.
26 Byrne, Assemblyman Harold T. Sedgwick, and the Judiciary
27 Committee of the Assembly of the State of California.
28 The foregoing Resolution was introduced by Supervisor
29 Pryde who moved its adopt~:on, seconded by
30 Supervisor Steine~~er and said Resolution was passed
31 this 6th day of March, 1961, on ro11 call by the following vote:
