An Ordinance of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte
~ Adopting a Revision and Codification of the Ordinances of Butte County, California, Entitled, "Butte
County Code"
The Butte County Board of Supervisors originally published and codified the general ordinances of Butte
County as the County Code with Ordinance No. 467, dated October 27, 1952.
The Butte County Board of Supervisors adopted Ordinance No. 783, dated October 1, 1963, adopting a
revision and codification of the ordinances of Butte County California, entitled, "The Code of Butte
County, California", providing for the repeal of certain ordinances not included therein with certain
exceptions and for the other purposes hereinafter set out, pursuant to the Government Code, State of
California, Section 25126 et. seq.
The ordinances were codified, edited and indexed by the editorial staff of Michie City Publications
Company of Los Angeles through Ordinance No. 1062, passed December 16, 1969.
Municipal Code Corporation of Tallahassee, Florida codified, edited and published the ordinances
'I beginning with Supplement No. 12-70, in 7anuary 1970, republished the Code in 1972, and continued
II codification, editing and publishing of ordinances through Supplement No. 3-01, containing all ordinances
Iii deemed advisable to be included in the County Code through Ordinance 3704, adopted March 27, 2001.
"The Code of Butte County, California" was revised, reformatted, codified, edited and indexed as the
"Butte County Code" by Book Publishing Company of Seattle, Washington, including all those ordinances
of a permanent and general nature through Ordinance 3769, passed September 11, 2001.
~ There are now on file in the office of the County Clerk, for public inspection, three copies of a document
entitled "Butte County Code".
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of Californa, ordains as follows:
Section 1. Adoption. There is hereby adopted the "Butte County Code" as compiled, revised, reformatted,
codified, edited, indexed and published by Book Publishing Company, Seattle, Washington.

Section 2. Reference applies to all amendments. Whenever a reference is made to the "Butte County
Code" or to any portion thereof, or to any ordinance of the County of Butte, California, codified herein,
the reference shall apply to all amendments, corrections, and additions heretofore, now or hereafter made.
Section 3. Title, chapter and section headings. Title, chapter and section headings contained herein shall
not be deemed to govern, limit, modify or in any manner affect the scope, meaning or intent of the
provisions of any title, chapter or section hereof
Section 4. Reference to specific ordinances. The provisions of this code shall not in any manner affect
matters of record which refer to, or are otherwise connected with, ordinances which are therein specifically
designated by number or otherwise, and which are included within the code, but such reference shall be
construed to apply to the corresponding provisions contained within this code.
Section 5. Ordinances assed rior to ado Lion of the code. The last ordinance included in this code was
Ordinance No. 3769, passed September 11, 2001. The process ofrevising, reformatting, codifying, editing
and indexing this code by Book Publishing Company, Seattle, Washington, was not completed until
September 2002. The following ordinances, passed subsequent to Ordinance No. 3769, but prior to the
adoption of this code are hereby adopted and made a part of this code: Ordinance Nos.: 3791, 3808, 3815,
3818, 3821, 3822, 3824, 3827, 3832, and 3835.
Section 6. Effect of code on past actions and obligations. The adoption of this code does not affect
prosecutions for ordinance violations committed prior to the effective date of this code, does not waive
any fee or penalty due and unpaid on the effective date of this code, and does not affect the validity of any
band or cash deposit posted, filed or deposited pursuant to the requirements of any ordinance.
Section 7. Constitutionality. if any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of this code is for any
reason held to be invalid ar unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of the code.

Section 8. References to,.prie~r code. References in county forms, documents and regulations to the
chapters and sections of the former county code shall be construed to apply to the corresponding provisions
contained within this code.
This ordinance shall take effect thirty {30) days after the date of its adoption, and before the expiration of
fifteen { 15) days after its passage, it shall be published with the names of the znezxabers voting for or against
the same, in the Chico Enterprise Record, a newspaper published in the County of Butte, State of .
California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte, Sate of California, on the
12th day of November, 2002, by the following vote:
