AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF CHAPTER 44 OF THE
BUTTE COUNTY CODE ENTITLED JUVENILE HALL CHARGES
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte ordains as follows:
Section 1. Purpose.
This ordinance increases juvenile support rates pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code sections
903 and 904 anal authorizes the Probation Department to recover fees in the specified amounts from
parents or other persons liable for support of a minor placed, detained, or committed to the Butte County
Juvenile Hall.
Section 2. Section 44-1 of the Butte County Code is amended to read as follows:
44-I Liability for cost of minor's support in ,juvenile hall.
A parent of a minor, the estate of a parent and the estate of the minor shall,
pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code section 903 and this section, be liable for the
reasonable cost of support of the minor while the minor is placed, detained in or
committed to the Butte County Juvenile Hall pursuant to an order of the Juvenile Court.
The liability of these persons and estates shall be a joint and severable liability.
The reasonable cost of support of a minor chargeable pursuant to this section,
based upon the average actual costs incurred by the county for food and food
preparations, clothing, personal supplies and medical expenses, and excluding costs of
incarceration, treatment or supervision, is determined (pursuant to Welfare and
Institutions Code section 904) to be twenty nine dollars and twenty-eight cents ($29.28}
per day.
Section 3. Severability.
If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstances is for
any reason held to be invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be deemed
~~ severable, and the invalidity thereof shall not affect the remaining provisions or other applications of the

Ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application thereof
Section 4. Effective Date and Publication.
This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after the date of its passage. The Clerk of the
Board of Supervisors is authorized and directed to publish this ordinance before the expiration of fifteen
(15}days after its passage. This Ordinance shall be published once, with the names of the members of
the Board of Supervisors voting for and against it, in theEr-terprise--Record a newspaper of general
circulation published in the County of Butte, State of California.

California, on the 13th day of Febx'uarY__ _, 2007, by the following vote:
