ORDINANCE NO. ~ 3958
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS ON
CERTAIN ROADS WITHIN THE COUNTY OF BUTTE,
STATE OF CALIFORNIA
(VEHICLE CODE SECTION 22358)
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, does ordain as
I follows:
Section 1: Said Board finds and determines that upon the basis of an engineering and
traffic survey, the Butte County highway hereinafter described comes within the provisions of
Section 22358 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, in that the existing unposted speed
limit of fifty-five (55) miles per hour established under Section 22349 (b) of the Vehicle Code of
the State of California is more than is reasonable and safe on said highway and determines and
declares prima facie speed limits on such Butte County highway as follows:
That a prima facie speed limit of forty (35) miles per hour is hereby determined, declared
and established and that SPEED LIMIT 35 signs be placed at appropriate locations on the
hereinafter-described County highways to wit:
1. Kennedy Ave (#55175-B) -Meridian Rd (MP 0.0) to Hwy 32 (MP 1.7)
2. Oak Way (#55155-B} -Meridian Rd {MP 0.0) to City Limits (MP 2.0)
That a prima facie speed limit of forty (40) miles per hour is hereby determined, declared
and established and that SPEED LIMIT 40 signs be placed at appropriate locations on the
hereinafter-described County highways to wit:
1. Lincoln Blvd (#18491 } -Palermo Rd (MP 0.3) to Monte Vista Avenue (MP 2.9)

That a prima facie speed limit of forty-five (45) miles per hour is hereby determined,
declared and established and that SPEED LIMIT 45 signs be placed at appropriate locations on
~ the hereinafter-described County highways to wit:
1. Meridian Rd. (#54133} - W. Sacramento Ave (MP0.0}
to Wilson Landing Rd (MP 4.7)
2. Ophir Rd (#21461) -Lincoln Blvd {MP 1.7) to 0.2 Miles East (MP 1.9}; and
Upper Palermo Rd (MP 2.9) to 0.2 Miles West (MP 2.7)
3. West Sacramento Ave (#54123) -- Meridian Rd. (MP 1.4) to City Limits (MP 3.5}
That a prima facie speed limit of forty {SO) miles per hour is hereby determined, declared
and established and that SPEED LIMIT 50 signs be placed at appropriate locations on the
hereinafter-described County highways to wit:
1. Nord Hwy (#60102) -Carmen Ln. (MP 0.5) to City Limits {MP 3.3)
Section 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
Section 3: The several features, parts, provisions, sections and terms of this ordii
are hereby declared independent and severable and the invalidity, if any, of any feature, part,
provision, section or term thereof, shall not affect the remainder of this ordinance, nor render the
same inoperative or invalid.
Section 4: The Department of Public Works of the County of Butte is hereby directed
to erect appropriate signs giving notice of the prima facie speed limits established herein within
thirty (30) days after its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen (1 S) days after its passage, it
shall be published with the names of the members voting for and against the same, once in a
local newspaper published in the County of Butte, State of California.

California, at the regular meeting thereof on the 13thday of March , 2007, by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Kirk, Josiassen, Yamaguchi and Chaiz Dolan
