2 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE DEFINITION OF "OIL AND GAS
EXTRACTION" IN SECTION 24-304, ENTITLED "DEFINITIONS, " OF
3 CHAPTER 24, ENTITLED "ZONING, " OF THE BUTTE COUNTY CODE
4 The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte ordains as
5 follows :
6 Section 1. The definition of "Oil and Gas Extraction" in
7 section 24-304 of the Butte County Code is hereby amended to
8 read as follows:
9 Oil and Gas Extraction. The operation or development of oil and
10 gas fields and wells . Oil and Gas Extraction uses include
11 exploration for crude petroleum and natural gas; drilling,
12 completing, and equipping wells; well stimulation treatments;
13 reinjection wells for natural gas; operating separators,
14 emulsion breakers, desilting equipment, and field gathering
15 lines for crude petroleum and natural gas; and all other
16 activities in the preparation of oil and gas up to the point of
17 shipment from the producing property.
18 Section 2 . Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or
19 the application thereof to any person or circumstances is for
20 any reason held to be invalid by a court of competent
21 jurisdiction, such provision shall be deemed severable and the
22 invalidity thereof shall not affect the remaining provisions or
23 other applications of the ordinance which can be given effect
24 without the invalid provision or application thereof .
25 Section 3 . Effective Date and Publication. This ordinance
26 shall take effect 30 days after the date of its passage. The
27 Clerk of the Board of Supervisors is authorized and directed to

1 publish this ordinance before the expiration of 15 days after
2 its passage . This ordinance shall be published once, with the
3 names of the members of the Board of Supervisors voting for and
4 against it, in the Chico Enterprise-Record, a newspaper of
5 general circulation published in the County of Butte, State of
6 California .
7 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
8 County of Butte, State of California, on the 8th day of
9 December, 2015 , by the following vote:
10 AYES : Supervisors Connelly, Kirk, Lambert and Chair Teeter
NOES : Supervisor Wahl

NOT VOTING: None
