ORDINANCE NO. X63
AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE REGULATING THE CUTTING OF
NATIVE TREES AND SHRUBS AND PROVIDING PENALTY THEREFOR.
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte do ordain
as follows:
1. Every person who within the MC®,u~t3~.`'oE<B~.t'tt~e~w9Elfn
and negligently cuts, destroys, mutilates or removes any native
or shrub or fern or herb or bulb or cactus or flower or huckleb
or redwood green or portions of any native tree or shrub or fern
or herb or bulb or cactus or flower or huckleberry or redwood ~r
11 .growi.ng upon public land or upon land not h~ own without a written
22 permit frown the owner of the land signed by such owner t-r his autho
13 rued agent, and every person who knowingly sells, offers for.sale
z4 or who transports upon any road or highway in the County of Butte y
15 of the. aforesaid trees or shrubs so cut or removed from public or
Ys private property not owned by said person who cut or removed the sa`,.~,
17 without the written permit from the owner of the land, signed b~'si h
18 owner or his authorixed agent, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and'
~s upon conviction thereof shall be punished by fine of not more than
20 X500 or by imprisonment in the County Jail for not more than six
21 months or both such fine and imprisonment.
22 2. The provisions of this section shall not be deemed to
23 apply to the necessary cutting or trimming of any trees, shrubs,
24 or ferns or herbs or bulbs or cacti or flowers or greens done for
25 the purpose of protecting or maintaining electric power line or
26 telephone line or other property of a public utility.
27 3. This ordinance is for the immediate preservation of pub:

forthwith.

passage and before the expiration of fifteen days after its pas-
sage it .shall be published with the names of the members voting for
and against it at least once 7.n the

The foregoing ordinance was duly adopted and passed by the
Board ofSupervisors of the County of Butte, State of California,
on the 13th day of November, 1g56,by the following vote:
