AN ORDINANCE REPEALING BUTTE COUNTY ORDINANCES
NOl 57 3 AND 577, AND AMENDING BUTTE COUNTY .ORDINANCE
N.O; 4~7-., BY ADDING SECTIONS THERETO RELATIlVG TO
SOLICITORS.
The BOARD OF SUPERVISORS of the COUNTY Off' BUTTES
State of California, DO ORD$IlV as follows:
1, That Butte County Ordinances No. 573 and 577
are. hereby repealed;
2. That Butte County Ordinance No, 4B7 is hereby
amended by adding to Chapter VII, Article Three the following sections:.

90.1 All persons before entering in or upon
private residences as salesmen or solicitors of orders for
the sale of goods, wares, merchandise, or services,
excepting insurance, are hereby required to register with
the sheriff of-the County of Butte, and furnish the following
informations name; address; personal descripti.an; nature
of business; name and address of employer or supplier of
goods to be Sold; duration of solicitation; prior felony
convitions, if any„
90.2 {a) Applicant upon compliance with Section
90,.1 shall be registered, unless applicant has a prior felon~r
conviction, in which case the sheriff may deny registration,
and applicant may appeal to Board of Supervisors
~b) Registration hereunder may be revoked
by the sher;lf£ for good es.t~se, and registrant may appeal such
revocation to the Board of Supervisors.
90.3 (a) Any person soliciting within the County
of Butte, shall conform to the followingregulations
(1} Solicitation to be in an orderly and
lawful manner, and at reasonable
times.
(2) Advance or down payments shall be
receipted for and signed by the
solicitor, which receipt shall give
the total purchase price, and all
additional charges, the amount paid,
and the nauae and address of the
supplier.
90, 4 Any person violating sections 90.1 or 90, 3
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable as provided
in cases of misdemeanors.
This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30} days after its
passage$ and before the expiration of fifteen days after its passage it shall

be published with the names of the Supervisors voting for and against it at
least once in the Csridley Herald a newspaper

published in the County of Butte, State of California.
The foregoing Ordinance was duly adopted and passed by the
Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, on the
1st. day of April J 957, by the following vote:
YES: Supervisors Alexander, Huggins, Kepple, Squires and Chairman Mack
