3 COUNTS OF BUl'TE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
4 RESOLUTION APPOINTING CONSTABLE OF
CRICO JUDICIAL DISTRICT

6 WHEREAS heretofore on the 30th day of March, 1961, the office of the
7 Attorney General of the State of California rendered an opinion to the effect
that there should be one (1) Constable in each Judicial District, regardless of
g any provision to the contrary contained in the Charter of the County of Butte;
10 and
I1 WHEREAS, said Charter provided for and there now are two (2)
'12 Constables in the Chico Judicial Township; and

13 WHERF,AS, heretofore this Board has, by amendment to Ordinance No. 6'~9,
14 "Salary Ordinance" of the County of Butte for the year 1960-1961, provided for
I5 the position of Deputy Constable;
16 NOW, THEREFORE,, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the
~,7 County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
lg 1. That James E. Bachand be, and he is hereby appointed as the
lg Constable of the Chico Judicial District, which said appointment sha11 become
2p effective on the first day of July, 1961, and continue for the term for whic}z
21 he was elected.
22 2. That this Board requests that Fred Watson, presently serving
23 as the other Constable of the Chico Judicial District, be appointed as Deputy
2¢ Constable of the Chico Judicial District, effective as n£ Ju1.y 1, 1961.
2g 3. That pending the effective date of the appointment of a
2,g Constable and Deputy Constable of the Chico Judicial District, to wit, the
27 first day of July, 1961, James E. Bachand and Fred Watson shall continue in
2g their present capacities as Constables of Chico Judicial District as provided
2g by the Charter of the County of Butte.
30 4. That this Resolution is adopted and passed to implement the
31 ruling of the office of the Attorney General of the State of California, as of
32 July 1, 1961.

The foregoing Resolution was introduced by Supervisor Alldredge ,
who moved its adoption, seconded by Supervisor Pryde ,and said .
Resolution was passed this 5th day o£ June, 1961 on xo11 ca71 by the fo]lowing
vote:
AYES: Super isors Alldredge, Pittman, Pryde, Steinegger and
Chairman Giles
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
