It was such an enjoyable evening that library staff asked the band . By-Laws Changes to play again. That musical event occurred earlier this month. It is hoped . Upcoming Events that Oroville will be able to have the moveable display in the branch . Centennial Party again after the celebration party. • Slate of Offices & Board As many have noticed, former Library Director Nancy Brower is Members writing a newspaper column describing the history of the library system. Oroville Library Hours Articles are published in the Check It Out at the Library column every other month in the ER/Mercury Register on the frst Thursday of the Manday...........Closed month. The next article is scheduled for July. Tuesday .............11-6 Wednesday......... l l -6 In March, OFOL members Ethel and Sally participated in the Thursday............ I O-5 kids' craft day sponsored by Artists of Rivertown Approximately 70 Friday ...............10-5 children were provided a free children's book by OFOL. Saturday............10-5 Sunday..........Closed OFOL will again be providing prizes for the adult and children's Recorded Hours: summer reading programs sponsored by the library. (530) 53$-7525 Monthly Book Sale Book Sales are held the I$t Saturda of each month, except in January & May or unless otherwise specif ed, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm in the library meeting room. The books and other items offered for sale are goad quality and reasonably priced. Periodically, there are individually priced special books and items. MEMBERSHIP DUES All membership dues except for "LIFE" are due in September. On your mailing label you will have a year printed above your name and address. That is the year that your membership will expire and you will need to renew it. You will be sent reminder letter a couple of months in advance to let you know that you need to renew. Please return your renewal in when you receive it. We really appreciate your continuous support, without it we would not be able to provide the books and other non budget items that the Oroville Branch needs to keep it running. It also helps with the "summer programs" and other events that are offered at the library to the public for free during the year. Thank you for your contributions both in money, books, and time. THEME: ABOUT' THE LIBRARY Monthty Meetings The board meets once a month at l :00 pm the 4th Monday of each month, unless otherwise specified, in the library conference room. All are welcome to attend. BOOK DONATIONS We are sorry but OFOL cannot accept books that have beery stared outside the home, such as in sheds or garages. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY IN OROVILLE BYLAWS ARTICLE I NAME The name of this association shall be Friends of the Library in Oroville (sometimes herein referred to as OFOL). ARTICLE IV OFFICERS AND EXECUTIVE BOARD Section 1. The officers shall be a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer and an Assistant Treasurer. The term shall be for one year. No individual shall hold any one office for a period of more than three (3) years. The recommended duties of the officers are set forth in Attachment 1 to these By-Laws. Section 2. In the_event of a vacancy_in any ©flace except President, the President shall have the_authority to appoint an individual to fil[,that„vacancy until the next reqularly scheduled election. Section 3. In the event of a vacanc in the office of President the Vice President shall assume t o ost o rest ent anti t o _ p next,rPgularly scheduled election and as President shall appoint an individual to replace himlher in the post ofi Vice President. Section 4. If any person resigns by written or oral declaration, that person may not reassume the office_ _from which helshe resigned. However, that individual ma run i the next reqularly scheduled election. Section 5. The Executive Board (sometimes_referred to as Board or Board of Directors) shall consist of the Officers and designated members-at-large. The Executive Board shall consist of not less than ten {1Q) members nor more than fourteen (14} members. The County Librarian or designate shall serve as ex-officio member of the Executive Board. Section 6. The Standing Committees may be as fiollows: Hospitality, Newsletter. Publicity, Program, Membership, Book Sales, Grants and Audit Committee. Section 3. The Treasurer`s books shall be reviewed annually by an Audit Committee consisting of two (2) Board members appointed by the President in conjunction with the preparation of the annual tax return. It is recommended that the Audit Committee review the books on a quarterly basis. ARTICLE XI AUTHORIZATION FOR DISBURSEMENTS Section 1. It is recommended that all checks be signdeed ~ tf~e amount of I$700.OD~r 500.00 or any disbursements by cash, check or money or more shall only be evidenced by the signature of two officers. Section 3. If an issue is determined to be an emer enc in the discretion of an officer u on bein a lied to the President ma oll the board members for a vote to act to sore the emer enc without the necessi of a meetin .However no ex enditure of funds above the sum of 500.00 shall be ex ended for an event deemed an emer-enc without a s eciall called meetin of the Board of Directors.. ATTACHMENT 1 President Member of the Executive Board: The President shall: preside over all meetings of the Executive Board of Directors and of the members; represent OFOL at point FOL and, if or until a_designated member is appointed tithe Butte County Library Advisory Board meetings; sign written instruments authorized or approved by the Board or the members, appoint chairpersons and committees as necessary or as established by the Board;- among other things.
