STATE OF CALIFORIV No. 62-22 ~ `~~~ RESOLUTION SETTING FORTH VIEL~iS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE IN RELATION TO THE L05dERING OF STATER TEhB'EI?ATURES IN TINE FEATHER RIDER DUE TO CONSTRUCTION OF TI-II; OROVILLE DAt~f 1' ~1I~iEREEAS, the major portion of the total income of $utte County is de-- '2' rived from agriculture; and 3' Z^1HEi?EAS, rice is considered the major crop in Butte County, valued at 4, approximately ten million dollars, and the majority of frhich is raised in the pro '~ posed Feather .River Service Area; and ,g T~JI~REAS, the other combined crops raised in the proposed Feather River '7 Service Area are of appro.~irnately equal value to Butte County; and Trtl-IEREAS, a lowering of water temperatures at diversion points from the 9 Feather River would have a great adverse affect on the rice crop in Butte County; 10 and 11: Tu'~IiEREAS, the affect to other crops, although as yet not known, could 12 also have an adverse affect. 13 NOi~i TI-ZETiEFORE, BE IT RESOLVEII, that the BOARD OF SUPEEZVISOR5 OF TIC . O'Nelll, Director Courthouse, Oroville, CalfEomia LEnox 3-0430 - Fxtcmlon R01 March 16, lgbz Honorable Board of Supervisors County of Butte Courthouse Re: Oroville Dam Oroville, California Gentlemen: At the last meeting of the Butte County 6+~ater Resources Board, the motion was made and unanimously passed that a proposed resolution be forwarded to your Board in which the request be made to the State Department of t~dater Resources that adequate provisions be included in the design of the Oroville Dam to maintain existing stream tem- peratures at the downstream diversion points of the Feather River in Butte County. It is recommended that your Board adopt this or a similar resolution and forward-copies to the State Legislators concerned 1~rith this pro- blem and to the State Department of YJater Resources.
