RESOLUTION TO RETAIL HICHG~TAY 1,.0-A ITi STATE 1-IIGI-iG~AY SYSTEEI~1
,WHEREAS, the State of Calif ornia has adopted a route for the
relocation of the Feather River I-Ii;hway (U.S. 1~0-A) in the community
of Oroville and Butte County, and
G?]~IEREkS, this highway circuiting the site of the projected
Oroville Rain and Reservoir, is presently under construction, and
WI-IEREAS, upan the completion of construction of the new highway,
the 'present route, under law, would be formally abandoned as a State
Highway, and
~7I-iF,REAS, the section of the present highway from the ii'Iontgornery
Street interchange with the new ~.0-A in the City of Oroville, to the
Orova.lle Dam site would be a heavily traveled and increasingly important
high~•ta.y section because of the tourist and recreational attraction of the
proj',ected Oroville Dam and Reservoir, as well as the traffic directly
relata.ng to construction of the Oroville Darn, and
:~IEREAS, this section of 1~0-A will become a highway o.i zna jor
importance, and
~1~HEREAS, as a major highway and because of its relationship to a
paramount State of California water project, this section of 1~0-A should
remain a part of the State of California I-Iighway System rather than a
roadway maintained by the City of Oroville, and County of Butte.
1'd0',V, THERF~FORE, BB IT R~SOLVEDo That the legislature of the State
of California, is hereby requested to retain in the State Highway System
that portion of the highway presently e~:isti ng from. the point of inter-
chargs with the naw LSO--A at I~iontgomery Street to the proposed Oroville
Dam site, and
1~1DG THEREFORE, LE IT ;iURTI-IER RESOI;~D: That sai d route is
necessary to accomodate heavy traffic from U.S. Highway I~0-A to the
Orovi~le Dam, and it is necessary for the protection of lives and pro-
perty,that said highway be maintained for the preservation of the public
peace, healt_~ and safety and the general welfare of the State of California,
and

'Bi; IT FURTHER RESOLVIJD, that the Chairman of the Board of
Supervisor4s, of the County of Butte be, and is hereby authorized
to sign this resolution on behalf of the County of Butte, and to
direct copies to all parties concerned.
APPROVED AidD ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Butte, State of California, this 9th day of APRIL Ig62, by the
