BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
2 COUNTY OF BUTTE. STATE OF CALIFORNIA
3 RESOT,UTION TO DESIGNATE THE FIRST DAY OF MAY, 1962,
AS LAW DAY U.S.A. IN BUTTE COUNTY

5 WHEREAS, it has been resolved by the Senate and the House of
6 Representatives of the United States of America that .the first day
7 of May is designated as Law Day U.S.A.
S WHEREAS, the Board feels that without laws predicated upon
9 equal justice, and independent courts to administer them, the
10 liberties we take for granted would be meaningless; and
11 WHEREAS, the Board believes that it is necessary that a speci
12 day of celebration by the people of Butte County in appreciation
13 of their liberties and the reaffirmation of their loyalty to the
14 nited States of America and to the community in which they live;
15 f their rededicate on to the ideals of equality and justice under
16 aw in their relation with each other and for the cultivation of
1'7 hat respect for law that is so vital for the democratic way of
18 ife;
19 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of
20 he County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
21 1. The Board of Supervisors of Butte County herewith declare
22 hat the first day of May, 1962, shall. be known as i,aw Day UoS.A.

24 2. It is hereby requested that all citizens, organizations,
25 ourts, and schools give appropriate recognition to this special
26 ay,
27 3. That all citizens are reminded of their duties which
28 'nclude duty to obey the law, to respect the rights of others, to
29 a informed on issues of government and community welfare, to vote
30 n elections, to serve on juries if called, to serve and defend our
~l ountry, to assist agencies of law enforcement and to teach the
32 rinciples of good citizenship in our homes.

The foregoing Resolution was introduced by Supervisor
pl-~,yde who moved its adoption, seconded by
Supervisor Steinea~er and said Resolution was passed on
this 30th day of April, 1'962, by roil call by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Giles, Pittman, Pryde, Steineggerand
Chairman Alldredge
NOES : None
ABSENT: None
