RESOLUTION FOR THE COMPLETION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE EXISTING
U S HIGHWAY 99E.
WHEREAS, the State Division of Highways is presently
constructing a new route for U. S. Highway 99E through the
City of Chico and the County of Butte, and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated this new route will be

enmpleted by 1966, and
WHEREAS, the State Division of Highways will transfer
control of existing U. S. Highway 99E through Chico, to the
City of Chico and the County of Butte, and
WHEREAS, the State Division of Highways has reconstructed
and improved those portions of existing U. S. Highway 99E
from Centerville Road to Cohasset Road, and
ti~]HEREAS, that portion of U. S. Highway 99E from Cohasset
Road to Garner Lane has not been reconstructed and improved, and
1tiHEREAS, it is the usual policy of the State Division of
Highways to construct and improve to first class condition
those portions of a State Highway that are being replaced but
are still necessary for major travel before the State Division
of Highways relinquishes control,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte request the California Division of
Highways to take such appropriate action as is necessary to
improve the presently existing Highway 99E from Cohasset Road
to Garner Lane by widdning said Highway to four lanes, and to
construct the same prior to the completion of U. S. Highway 99E
Freeway through Butte County and the City of Chico.
