Board of Supervisors, County of Butte, State of California
- Resolution In Ret Senate Bill No. 344
~HER~AS, on January 30, 1963, there was introduced by
Senator Collier, and others, legislation providing for
allocation and apportionment to counties and cities of an
amount equivalent to net revenue from 1~ per gallon of gas
tax for expenditure on county roads and city streets, and
revising existing formulas under which money in the highway
users tax fund is apportioned to counties and cities, and
'~3I3,ER~AS, this Board of Supervisors believes that an
increase in such fuel tax would be the best method of
supplying additional funds for local streets and highways, and
Wl~EREAS, the tax on fuel used by motor vehicles is a
fair and equitable tax because it is borne in direet
proportion to the use made of the public streets and highways;
N€~ THEREFOR B'E IT RESQjLVED, by the Board of Super-
visors of the County of Butte, State of California, that
said Board of Supervisors does favor the imposition of the
equivalent of an additional l~ per gallon tax on fuel used by
motor vehicles with provision that such additional tax be
allocated to cities and counties for local street and high-
way purposes, all as set forth in Senate Bill No. 344;
BE IT FURTHER ~fBLVEA, that the County Clerk be, and
she is hereby directed to send copies of this Resolution to the
Honorable. Stanley Pittman, State Senator and the Honorable
Randolph Collier, Chairman of the Senate Fact Finding
Committee on Transportation and Public Utilities, the

Honorable Harold E. Booth, of the 4th Assembly District,
the County Supervisors Association of California, and to such
other interested parties as may be designated by the Chairman
of this Boarde
