ASSEMBLY BILL N®a 369
WHEREAS there are now pending in the legislature bills
known as Assembly Bill No. 1757 and Assembly Bill No. 369, and
'NHE12FA5 Assembly Bill No. 1757 would prohibit the taking
of real property liens for costs of hospitalization, and
~iEREAS Assembly Bi11 No, 369 would prohibit the
assignment of State Unemployment hospitalization benefits to a
hospital when care is given, and
3~IEREAS Assembly Bill No. 1757 and Assembly Bill No. 369
would in effect preclude counties from securing any recovery
for hospitalization furnished by County Hospitals to those
recipients of old age benefits and unemployment hospitalization
except by voluntary payment by the recipient of the benefits, and
~HEKEAS said legislation would in effect result in the
denial to county of a sorce of revenue in connection with
county affairs in afield in which there is no State participation,
and
~7HEREAS the County of Butte, particularly in the operation
of its County Hospital, would be forced to secure additional
local tax revenue if said legislation should become law, and
~IEREAS it is very likely that said legislation would
in actuality do a disservice to those whom it is designed to
protect, in that such legislation might cause counties to impose
more stringent eligability requirements for county hospitalization,

of the Co~-,xnty of Butte, State of California as follows
1. That said Board does hereby oppose Assembly Bill No.
1757 and Assembly Bill No. 369, and it is urged that the

legislature take action in accordance with this Resolution.
2. That the Clerk of this Board be, and she is hereby
directed to send copies of this Resolution to the Honorable
Stanley Pittman, State Senator; Honorable Harold-Booth,
Assemblyman; Honorable Phillip Buxton, Assemblyman and Chair-
man of the Assembly Committee on Social welfare; and to the
Honorable Edmund G, Brown, Governor of the State of California;
and to such other persons as the Chairman of this Board may
designate.
