BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OE' BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO ASSEMBLY BILL NUMBER 1556
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill Number 1556 has been introduced
by Assemblyman Winton and others at the present session of the
California Legislature; and
WHEREAS, said Bill seeks to regulate the compensation
of judges of the Justice Courts of the respective counties; and
WHEREAS, various judicial districts have different and'
varied problmes; and
WHEREAS, the compensation of county employees is a
perogative that has been traditionally reserved to the
counties; and
WHEREAS, in many instances the regulation of
compensation on the population basis should not be the sole
criterion and can create a hardship and an unreasonable tax
burden on the counties.;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED} by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte, State of California, that this Board
does urge the defeat of Assembly Bill Number 1556, and hereby.
registers its Apposition to said Bill.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by said Board, that copies of
this Resolution be forwarded to Senator Stan Pittman,
Assemblyman Harold Booth, and to such other interested parties
as may be designated by the Chairman of the Board of
Supervisors.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, by the Board of Supervisors of the

April , 1963, by the following vote:
