APPROVAL OF ACTION OF CALIFORNIA COUNTY COLLECTORS
ASSOCIATION IN FORMING A LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE TO
PLAN FOR LEGISLATION IN 1965 RESTORING THE RIGHTS
OF COUNTIES TO TAKE LIENS FOR MEDICAL CARE_

WHEREAS, the County of Butte, since the effective date
of Assembly Bill 59, has suffered an estimated loss of approx-
imately $5,000.00 because of inability to ta7ce liens upon
real property as prohibited by said Assembly Bill 59; and
WHEREAS, this Board has been informed by the Business
Manager of the Butte County Hospital that the California
County Collectors Association is considering the formation of a
Legislative Committee to report undesirable legislation to be
enacted in 1965; and
WHEREAS, said committee will possibly have a subcommittee
on statistics to determine the losses suffered by all counties
in the State of California by reason of a discontinuance of
real property liens as provided by said Assembly Bi11 59;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisor
of the County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
1. That said Board hereby approves the action of the
California County Collectors Association, and GENEVIEVE V_ HOVEY,
the Business Manager of the Butte County Hospital, is hereby
authorized and requested to further said action, particularly
the compilation of statistics that will aid in determining the
loss to each county of the State of California by the inability
of such counties to take lien on real property because of
Assembly Bill 59.
The foregoing Resolution was duly adopted and passed
at a regular open meeting of said Board held on the 10th day of
September, 1963, on roll call by the following vote:
