BUTTE COUNTY ORDINANCE NO. G~3Z
AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO TRAILER COACHES AND CAMP
SITES IN THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California do
ordain as follows:
Section 1•
For the purpose of this Ordinance, certain words and phrases are define
as follows:
(a)"Trailer coach"means any camp car, trailer or other vehicle,
with or without motive power and designed for or used for hum. an habitation;
(b)"Camp space"means any place temporarily maintained by one or
more persons for living or sleeping purposes;
(c) `Sheriff's office"shall include the sheriff of the County of Butte,
h i sc>duly authoriz,ed~deputies.
(d) 'Health Officer"shall include the Health Officer of the County of
Butte, anc~ all members of the Department of Health of the County of Butte.
Section 2•
(a) The Sheriff's office shall enforce all the provisions of this
Ordinance and shall inspect all accomodations and installations the subject of
this Ordinance.
(b) The Health Officer is authorized to issue or deny written per-
mits required by this Ordinance.
(c) Requests for permits shall be directed to the Health Officer,
who may require proof that applicant has the permission of the owner or person
legally in charge of the real property upon which a permit is requested.
(d) If the findings of the Health Officer are such that the issuance
I of a permit would be detrimental to the health of any person or adversely affect
the sanitary conditions of the area, he shall deny the application and not grant
the permit, Permits shall not be transferrable and shall expire upon the date
of expiration endorsed thereon.
(e) The Health Officer shall upon the issuance of any permit, forth
with transmit a copy thereof to :the Sheriffs Office.

l Section 3;
i2 (a) No person shall park any trailer coach on public or private
3 property within the County of Butte for a period in excess of five (5) days in
4 any thirty (30) consecutive days without first having obtained a permit as herein
• 5 provided, except in an approved trailer -camp or labor camp.
0 (b) No person shall occupy any camp space on public or private
'7 property in the County of Butte, fo-r a period longer than five (5} days after
8 notificatio^ in any thirty (30) consecutive days without first having obtained a
9 permit as herein provided.
10 Section 4:
11 Any permit issued under the provisions of this Ordinance may be revoked
12 for just cause by the Health Officer, Notice of revocation shall be made
13 verbally to the valid holder of the permit and within 48 hours of service of not-
14 ice an affidavit attesting to such service shall be filed with the County Clerk and
15 be made of record. The permit shall be considered revoked within 5 days of
16 such service.
i7 Section 5•
18 The provisions of this Ordinance shall not be construed to apply to any
I9 trailer coach or camp site referred to in an Act regulating Auto and Trailer
20 Parks, Division XIII, Part II, Health and Safety Gode, nor in an Act regulating
21 camps where five or more persons are employed, Division II, Part IX, Chapter
22 I of the Labor Code; nor shall this Ordinance be construed to apply to any super
23 vised public park or public camp or picnic ground, operated and/or maintained
24 by the Federal Government, the State of California or any agency of said State
25 nor by any political subdivision. or municipality.
26 (a) The provisions of this Ordinance do not apply to any trailer
27 coach parked in dead storage and not used for living or sleeping purposes.

29 Any person who violates any of the provisions of this Ordinance is guilty
30 of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars
31 ($200, 00) or by imprisonment not exceeding 30 days or by both such fine and
32 imprisonment.

Section 7:
The several features, parts, provisions, sections and terms of this
Ordinance are hereby declared independent and severable and the invalidity,
if any, of any feature, part, provision, section or term thereof shall not affect
the remainder of this Ordinance nor render the same inoperative or invalid.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed,
The foregoing Ordinance was duly passed and adopted by the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, at a regular meeting of
said Board held on the 21~th day of November, 1958, by the following vote:
