BOARD OF SUPERVI TORS
COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING PARTICIPATION IN
THE a'LET FREEDOM RING" OBSERVANCEo
WH.EREA~S, the independence of the United States of America
was proclaimed on July 4, 1776, by the ringing of the Liberty
', Bell; and
W~TEREAS, in commemoration of this momentous events on
July 4, 1963, then Vice President, LYNDON B, JOHNSON, inaugurated
a reenactment of the ceremony at the site of the Liberty Bell in
Independence Ha11, Philadelphia; and
WI.EREAS, Federal, State and local governmental bodies
throughout the country have declared their intention to participat
in the '"Let Freedom Ring" observance,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AS FOLLOWS:
That the citizens of the County of Butte, State of CalifP
ornia, be encouraged to participate in the !°I.et Freedom Ring"
observance by ringing all the bells in the county at 11:00 A,Mo
