4 RESOLUTION REQUESTING DEPARTMENT OF WATER
RESOU12CE5 TO RELOCATE OROVILLE-QUINCY
5 HIGHWAY' NORTH OF DIDDLE FORK BRIDGE ON
THE "C" ALIGNMENT

WHEREAS, the County of Butte and the Department of
7
Water Resources have had under study as and for relocations of
8
the Oroville-Quincy Road north of the Middle Fork Bridge routes
9
designated as the "B" line and "C" line; and
10
WHEREAS, heretofore this Board did on the 29th day of
11
February, 1963, hold a public hearing in accordance with the
12
policy of the California Highway Commission and pursuant to
13
regulations of the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau
14
of Public 12oads, on the "C" line, and thereafter, on the 5th
15
day of March, 1963, by Butte County Resolution No. 63-12, find
16
and determine that the "C" line would best serve the public
17
interest; and

WHEREAS, engineering studies conducted since then by

both County and Department of Water 1esources now indicate that
20
the difference in cost between the two routes has been greatly
21
narrowed by reason of County's willingness to reduce standards;
22
and
23
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the economic
24
benefits accruing to people residing in the area and to through
25
travelers would in one year equal the difference in costs
26
between the construction of the two routes of alignment; and
27
WHEREAS, public convenience and necessity requires that
28
construction be commenced immediately so that the inundation of
29
the Oroville-Quincy Road will not occur prior to the construction
30
of an adequate and suitable replacement;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of

lSupervisors of the County of Sutte, State of California, as
2 follows:
3 1. That the County of Butte hereby requests that the
4 Department of Water Resources construct the "C" alignment for
5 the relocation of the Oroville-Quincy Road as presently
6 delineated by the engineering firm of Porter, O'Brien & Armstrong.
7 2. That this Board finds and determines that said
8 "C" alignment would best serve the public interest of the County
9 of Butte, the residents of the area and users of the recreation
10 facilities to be made available to the general public.
11 3. That the construction of said "C" alignment or
12 route be commenced forthwith so that an adequate replacement of
13 said Oroville-Quincy Road will be constructed, completed and
l~k available for public use prior to the. time that the present
15 Oroville-Quincy Road is inundated.
Z6 4. That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
17 William E. Warne, Director of the Department of-Water Resources,
18 and to any and all other persons directed by the Chairman of
19 this Board.
20 The foregoing resolution was adopted and passed this
21 21st day of July, 1964, on roll call by the following vote:
22 AYES:SDPERVISCRS ALLDREDGE, GILES, PRYDE, STEINEGGER and
C~iAIRMAN NIc~CILLCP.
