HomeMy WebLinkAbout648l.L~ 1 BUTTE: COUNTY 'ORDINANCE NO, b~8 2 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS .ON CERTAIlV COUNTY ROADS WITHIN THE CHICO AND OROyILLE AREAS, ', i 3 IN THE COUNTY ©F BUTTE, STATE iOF CALIFORNIA, (Vehicle Code, Section 511,.3 fib) ) 5 WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works of the County .of Butte, upc 6 the basis. of an engineering and traffic survey, has determined that the County 7 highways kiereinafter described come within the provisions of Section 51I, 3 (b) 8 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California,, in that a prima facie speed limit g of fifty-five (55j miles per hour is more than is reasonable and safe on said Zp highways,- ,11 NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, '~2 State of California, do ordain as follows: 13 1. That a prima facie speed limit of forty-five (45) miles per hour is 14 hereby established upon Renshaw Avenue, Manzanita Avenue,, Centennial ',15 Avenue, Chico Canyon Road and Sacramento Avenue in the Chico Area, County 1B of Butte, within the following limits, to wit: '17 (a) On HENSHAW AVENUE, from the southwesterly right-of- way line of the Esplanade, southwesterly to the north- ' 1.8 easterly right-of-way line of Nord Avenue. (b) On MANZANITA AVENUE, from the easterly right-of-way lg line of Cactus Avenue, northeasterly and then southwesterly to its intersection with. Centennial Avenue,. including said 2p intersection. (c) On CENTENNIAL AVENUE, from said intersection with 21 Manzanita Avenue in a southwesterly and then a southeast- ' erly direction to its intersection with Chico Canyon Road, 22 including said intersection. (d) On CHICO CANYON ROAD, from- said intersection with 23 .Centennial Avenue in a southwesterly direction to the easterly right-:of-way line of El Monte Avenue. :24 (e) .On SACRAMENTO AVENUE, from a. point 4, 750 feet westerly of the southwesterly right»of~way line of State 25 Highway Route 47 (sign Route 32), westerly to the easterly right-of-way line of Muir Avenue, 26 27 20 That SPEED LIMIT 45 MILES signs be placed at appropriate loca- 28 bons on the roads described above in Section L. 29 3. That a prima fade speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour is 30 hereby established upon Manzanita Avenue and upon West Eighth. Avenue in the 31 Chica Area, County of Butte, within the following limits, to wit: 32 (a) On MANZAIVITA AVENUE, from- the southeasterly right- _1_ ~_ ~ ~~'' 1 of-way line of Cohasset Highway in a generally easterly and northeasterly direction to the easterly right-of-way 2 line of Cactus Avenue. 3 (b) On WEST EIGHTH AVENUE, from the northeasterly right-of-way line of State Highway Route 47 (sign 4 Route 32) northeasterly to the southwesterly right-of- way line of Citrus Avenue. '5 6 4, That SPEED IaIMIT 35 MILES signs be placed at the appropriate 7 locations on the roads described in Section 3,- above. 8 5. That SPEED LIMTT 25 MILES signs be placed at appropriate loca- '18 bons .on the roads described above in Section 5. 19 7. That a prima facie speed limit of twenty-five (25) miles per hour 20 is hereby established upon V-4 Road, Walmer Road, Rosedale Avenue, Paxk- 21 dale Avenue., B1oar Avenue and. Farley Street in the Oroville Area, County of 22 Butte, within the following limits,. to wit: '23 (a) On V-4 RQATI, from a point 155 feet easterly of th.e inter- section of its centerline with the centerline of .Farl,ey 24 Street, easterly to the easterly right-of-way line of Walmer-Road, 25 4b) On WALMER ROAI?, from- the easterly right-ofwway line ~~ of Palermo to the southerly right-af~way line of Bloor I 26 Avenue, ii 4c) On ROSEDALE AVENUE, from the westerly right-of-way '~ 27 line of Walmer Road westerly a distance of 410 feet, (d) Ot~ PARKDALE AVENUE, from the' northerly right-of-way 28 line of Rosedale Avenue to the southerly right-of-way line '~ of Bloor A~renue, 29 4el On BLOOR AVENUE, from the westerly rightdaf-way of P"arkdale Avenue to the easterly right~of-way line of 30 Walmer Road, (f) On FARLEY STREET, from the northerly right-~of-way line 31 of V-3 Road northerly to a point 350 feet northerly of the centerline of V-4.Road, 32 -2- i 1 '2 ',3 4 ;5 6 7 8 9 10 11 '12 13 14 X15 16 17 18 19 20 `21 22 23 2~ 25 26 27 28 'I 29 I 30 31 32 8. That SPEED LIMIT 25 MILES signs be placed at appropriate loca- tions, on the roads described. above in Section '7, 9, Any person violating any of the provisions .of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, 10. All.-ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are her ~ repealed. 11, The several features, parts, provisions, sections-and terms of this Ordinance, are hereby declared independent and severable, and the invalidity, if any, of any feature, part, provision,, section, or term, thereof shall not affect the remainder of this Ordinance, nor render the same inoperative, or invalid. 12. This Ordinance shall be, and is hereby declared to be, in full force and effect from and after thirty (30) days after the date of its passage; and before the expiration of fifteen (15j days after its passage this .Ordinance shall be published once, with the names. of the members of the Board of Supervisors voting for .and against it, in the- Chico Enterprise Record and ,~~oy~l~e Mercury ,newspapers published in the County of Butte, State of California. PASSED.
