BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
l COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
2 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LEGISLATION ON THE CONTROL OF
PORNOGRAPHIC LITERATURE

4 ~W~IEREAS the Butte County Board of Supervisors is contin-
5 ua11y made aware of the problem of controlling pornographic
6 literature; and
''~ WHEREAS-this problem is becoming increasingly difficult
8 to our county and is particularly damaging to our juveniles; and
9 ~iH.EREAS the basic problem rests with existing state stat-
10 uses which are :inadequate and are such that law enforcement
11 agencies cannot control the increased distribution of poriio-
~12 graphic literature; and
13 `fr1EIEREAS -the only reasonable and permanent solution to
14 this community problem is the strengthening of the state laws
15 on distributing pornography; and
16 1~-IEREAS the statutory penalties for convicted violators
].7 should bed sufficiently intensified as to discourage this prac-
18 tice,
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board
X20 of Supervisors registers the strongest possible concern over the
21 problem and strongly urges and enthusiastically supports the
22 introduction and passage of legislation which strengthens the
23 control over the distribution of pornographic literature.
24 PASSED AND A70PTED at the regular meeting of the Board of
25 Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, on the
26 26th day of January; 1965, by the following vote:
