RESOLUTION NO. 65 -7l~~
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO ASSEMBLY BILL 300
T~HEREAS, there has been introduced into the State Legis-
lature of the State of California, Assembly Bill entitled AB 300;
and
TTi3EREAS, said Assembly Bill would require a party design
ation for all public officials running in county elections; and
~IF..REAS, said designation would thereby induce into the
county election system political overtones; and
T~HEREAS, this Board of Supervisors finds that such
political activity would be contrary to the best interests of
county government,
NC~r THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE that they oppose the passage of Assembly
Bill 300, requiring political designations for county elected
officers.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this board finds it is in the
best interests of local government that the election of county
officials be left under a non-partisan basise
BE IT FURTHER RESOL~IED that the clerk of this board forward
copies of this resolution to the legislative representatives of
this county, and to such other and further officials as may be
designated by the chairman of this board.

of Butte, State of California, this 9th day of February, 1965, by
the following vote:
AYES; Supervisors Giles, Maxon, McKillop and Chairman Pryde
